Job Description: Finance Manager

Reports To

Directors, supported by General Manager

Job Purpose

To take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the finance function, ensuring accurate financial records, timely reporting, effective credit control and strong financial discipline across the business.This is a hands-on role responsible for all accounting duties within the company, working closely with Directors and operational teams to maintain financial stability and support sound decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

1. Day-to-Day Finance Management- Maintain accounting function of in-house ERP system LabelTraxx- Manage purchase and sales ledger- Process supplier invoices and payments (with support of Accounts administrator)- Work with Customer Services to ensure accurate and timely invoicing- Bank reconciliations- Manage payroll and staff expenses- Maintain fixed asset register- Maintain stock and WIP accounting records- Submit VAT and Plastic Packaging Tax returns- Ensure all HMRC and statutory payments are made on time- Assist with year-end accounts preparation and liaise with external accountant2. Monthly Management Accounts- Prepare monthly management accounts- Produce P&L and Balance Sheet reports- Reconcile balance sheet monthly- Provide variance summaries to Directors- Monitor cash position and provide basic cashflow forecasting3. Credit Control & Cashflow- Manage debtor ledger and monitor overdue accounts- Ensure debtor days remain within agreed targets- Work with Management to set and review customer credit limits- Work with Operations and Customer Services to improve credit control processes- Monitor supplier payment terms- Support Directors in maintaining healthy cashflow4. Financial Support to the Business- Support Directors with financial data and reporting- Work with Operations Manager to ensure cost control- Highlight unusual spending or trends- Maintain strong financial organisation and record keeping

Key Measures

- Monthly accounts completed on time- Balance sheet reconciled monthly- Debtor days below 60 days (unless agreed otherwise)- All statutory returns submitted on time- Accurate payroll and supplier payments

Person Specification

Essential:- AAT qualified or Qualified by Experience- Experience producing monthly management accounts- Experience in SME environment- Strong Excel skills- Experience managing credit control- Organised and detail-focusedDesirable:- Experience in manufacturing or stock-based business- Payroll experience
