Our Farm We are a large family-owned mixed farm based in Crewkerne, Somerset, with an Anaerobic Digester on site processing slurry and waste from the farm for biogas production. We use SCADA systems that control the gas plant. We are currently seeking a reliable and proactive Anaerobic Plant Operative to support the day-to-day operations of our anaerobic digestion facility. This role is ideal for someone with an engineering or mechanical background, looking to work in a fast-growing sector that contributes directly to renewable energy and environmental sustainability. As an Anaerobic Operative, you'll be hands-on with plant machinery, equipment maintenance, and process monitoring to ensure optimal performance of the facility. You will be responsible for: Assist with the operation, monitoring, and control of the anaerobic digestion plant and Slurry system Conduct routine maintenance and basic mechanical repairs on pumps, valves, conveyors, and other plant equipment Carry out site inspections and report faults or irregularities Monitor feedstock levels, digestate output, and gas production Ensure all work is completed in accordance with health, safety, and environmental standards Keep accurate records of operational data and maintenance activities Assist with cleaning and general upkeep of the facility Operating a Telehandler, tractor, and other machinery Managing routine operation of the AD plant and slurry system during the weekend you are on shift, with remote support from the site manager. Requirements You will have practical mechanical or engineering skills and have experience with maintaining machinery and equipment (e.g. working with pumps, motors, or pipework) A practical, hands-on approach and problem-solving mindset Good understanding of health & safety practices Comfortable working in an industrial and farming environment Strong work ethic and willingness to learn · You will have excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to also work independently.
