Reporting to: Chief Executive Officer

Line management responsibility: Head of Member Marketing, Head of Digital Marketing, Head of Publishing & Events, Publicity Relations Manager.

About the job: To lead and direct the Club's entire marketing and communications ecosystem, increasing membership volumes, driving revenue from products, and customer lifetime value by developing and executing a cohesive, data-driven brand and 'Go-to-Market' strategy. This role is the custodian of the Club's public image and voice.

We are looking for a forward-thinking, strategically minded digital performance marketeer—a leader who thrives on measurable results. This individual must possess an unrelenting drive to solve complex challenges and pioneer innovative marketing strategies that consistently exceed performance targets. We require a passionate, highly resilient, and adaptable leader who is motivated by change, delivers without excuse, and can inspire and coach their team to achieve continuous improvement.

Key Tasks/Accountabilities (Product & Commercial Focus):

* Strategy: Define and execute the overall marketing strategy in alignment with business goals and customer outcomes.
* Leadership: Lead, mentor and mature the product team and organisation to drive high performance, skills development, and innovation.
* Brand & Strategy: Develop and implement the overarching brand strategy and positioning for the Club and its subsidiaries.
* Digital Engagement: Lead the development and delivery of digital engagement services, including website, forums, social media channels, and mobile app content, ensuring high member satisfaction and community growth.
* Content & Publishing: Be responsible for the content strategy across all consumer collateral, including the Club's Member Magazine (print and digital), ensuring relevant, motivating content that maximises revenue opportunities.
* PR & Advocacy: Oversee the proactive consumer Public Relations programme, enhancing the Club's desired image and positioning with press, industry trade bodies, and key decision-makers.
* Member Growth: Lead strategies to increase membership acquisition and renewal volumes, focusing on high lifetime value segments.
* Revenue Growth: Collaborate with the product owners to promote products and services (sites, travel, financial services, etc) through targeted marketing campaigns to members and non-members.
* Events & Awards: Ensure the delivery of key trade/consumer exhibitions, national events, and industry awards, aligning with the brand narrative.
* Market Insight: Stay informed of developments in marketing, communications, and not-for-profit governance to drive initiative and innovation.

Essential Skills & Experience Required:

* Performance Marketing: Expertise in maximising Return on Investment (ROI) from digital channels (e.g., SEO, Paid Social) and driving Customer Lifetime Value (CLV).
* Digital Transformation: Proven experience in a Marketing leadership role overseeing digital-first transformation and maximising digital/social media platforms (including App and Website).
* Brand Leadership: Demonstrable success in developing, implementing, and defending a national brand vision and ensuring consistency across all channels.
* Communications & PR: Strong demonstrable presentation and communications skills, with experience managing high-profile media and crisis communication.
* Leadership & Collaboration: Proven capacity to lead, manage, and inspire a diverse team, and a commitment to working effectively in cross-functional teams.
* Strategic programme management: Expertise in delivering complex digital development programmes from a systems and customer perspective.

Policy Statement

Discrimination

You must not treat somebody less favourably because of a Protected Characteristic, than you would treat other people without that Protected Characteristic, including current and former employees, job applicants, clients, customers, suppliers and visitors. This applies to any actions taken in the course of employment whether in the workplace, outside the workplace (when dealing with customers, suppliers or other work-related contacts or when wearing a work uniform), and on work-related trips or events including social events.

Types of unlawful discrimination

Direct discrimination is where a person is treated less favourably than another because of a Protected Characteristic. Examples of direct discrimination would be; refusing to employ a woman because she is pregnant.

In limited circumstances, employers can directly discriminate against an individual for a reason related to any of the Protected Characteristics where there is an occupational requirement. The occupational requirement must be crucial to the post and must be justified objectively by showing that it is a proportionate means of achieving a legitimate aim.

Indirect discrimination is a provision, criterion or practice (PCP) that applies to everyone but adversely affects people with a particular Protected Characteristic more than others, and is not justified. For example, requiring a job to be done on a Friday evening/Saturday would adversely affect Orthodox Jews because of their belief in the Sabbath. Such a requirement would be discriminatory unless it can be objectively justified.

Harassment includes sexual harassment and other unwanted conduct, relating to one of the Protected Characteristics that has the purpose or effect of violating a person's dignity, or creating an intimidating, hostile, degrading, humiliating or offensive environment. It does not matter whether or not this effect was intended by the person responsible for the conduct.

Associative discrimination is where an individual is directly discriminated against or harassed for association with another individual who has a Protected Characteristic.

Perceptive discrimination is where an individual is directly discriminated against or harassed based on a perception that he/she has a particular Protected Characteristic when he/she does not, in fact, have that protected characteristic.

Victimisation occurs where an employee is subjected to a detriment, such as being denied a training opportunity or a promotion because he/she made or supported a complaint or raised a grievance, or because he/she is suspected of doing so. However, an employee is not protected from victimisation if he/she acted maliciously or made or supported an untrue complaint.

Failure to make reasonable adjustments is where a physical feature or a provision, criterion or practice puts a disabled person at a substantial disadvantage compared with someone who does not have the same disability and the employer has failed to make reasonable adjustments to enable the disabled person to overcome the disadvantage.

Equal opportunities in employment

Person and job specifications will be limited to those requirements that are necessary for the effective performance of the job. Your responsibilities

Every employee is required to assist the Club to meet its commitment to provide equal opportunities in employment and avoid unlawful discrimination.

Grievances

If you consider that you may have been unlawfully discriminated against, you may use the Grievance procedure or the Bullying and Harassment Policy to make a complaint.

The Club will take any complaint seriously and will seek to resolve any grievance that it upholds. You will not be penalised for raising a grievance, even if your grievance is not upheld. However, making a false allegation deliberately and that is both untrue and made in bad faith may be treated as misconduct and dealt with under our Disciplinary Procedure. .

Training and guidance

The Club will provide training and guidance to its managers and others likely to be involved in recruitment or other decision making where equal opportunity issues are likely to arise.

The Club will provide training to all existing and potential new employees to help them understand their rights and responsibilities, and what they can do to create an environment free of bullying and harassment.

Following an unusual couple of years post-Covid pandemic it is pleasing to be able to report a more 'normal' set of Gender Pay statistics for the Club. The Gender Pay gap calculation compares the basic hourly pay of all employees allowing a direct comparison of part-time and full-time earners. Since reporting began in 2017, The Club's mean pay gap has remained consistent at between 10-13%, except for the 2 years of the pandemic in which some employees were placed on furlough.

The Club's Mean Gender Pay Gap for 2022 is 12.8% in favour of men. This is below the National Mean Pay Gap of 14.9%. The Club's Median Gender Pay Gap is 4.4% in favour of women which is significantly below the National Median Pay Gap of 15.4% in favour of Men.

The regulations require employers to report the number of women and men in four quartile pay bands. This is done by dividing the workforce into four equal parts. Employees are ranked from highest hourly rate to lowest hourly rate and then divided into four quartiles. This exercise demonstrates that the Club employs an equal number of men and women across the whole business, however, there are significantly more women than men in the upper quartiles.

Looking at year-on-year trends the Club's Mean Bonus Pay Gap is at its smallest since reporting started in 2017 with 13.8% in favour of Men and a Median Bonus Pay Gap of 15% in favour of females. The bonus pay gap does not differentiate between full and part-time workers and is calculated on the actual bonus paid.
