Patent Attorneys Doing Litigation (PADL)
EIP is seeking a patent attorney with experience or interest in patent litigation to join our award-winning team in London, handling a high-value caseload of litigation matters.
The role is within our Patent Attorneys Doing Litigation (PADL) team, which uniquely offers a position that is an integral part of litigation cases—providing technical expertise to litigators, conducting portfolio analysis, testing, and drafting and prosecuting patents for litigation clients.
Typical work includes telecoms litigation, with a significant focus on Standard Essential Patent (SEP) litigation, an area where EIP is recognized as a 'go-to' expert.
About the Litigation Team
Established in November 2011, our multi-award-winning patent litigation practice is highly successful and well-ranked. Our team combines patent attorneys and experienced patent litigators, providing a comprehensive technical and legal evaluation of cases.
Our cross-border team, based in the UK and Germany, enables us to serve clients across key European jurisdictions.
Experience, Skills & Qualifications
You should be a qualified patent attorney with demonstrable experience in telecoms patents, ideally including 3GPP and SEPs. While telecoms experience is important, a background in telecoms or communications technology is not mandatory.
This role suits candidates who have worked in patent firms involved in relevant litigation or in-house within the telecoms sector, such as manufacturers or network providers.
Successful candidates typically demonstrate:
* An appropriate professional attitude (personable, well-prepared, flexible, enthusiastic)
* Excellent written and oral communication skills
* Ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and structure coherent arguments
* Ability to interact effectively at various levels
* Capability to balance IP law knowledge with commercial considerations
* Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines
* Strong research and presentation skills
* Meticulous attention to detail and analytical thinking
* Initiative, accountability, and independence in workload management
