W hatis our Clinical Midwife role?
As part of amultidisciplinary team, provides clinical and professionalexpertise to ensure comprehensive evidence-based midwifery care isdelivered to patients for early pregnancy assessment. Supports thewomen and their family with early pregnancy care through the earlypregnancy journey including reproductive sexual health,preconception care, emotional and wellbeing support. Facilitatesand promotes patient safety and quality of care. Cares for womenand their families in accordance with the NMBA Midwives Standardsfor Practice; NMBA Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct for Midwives;the WA Health Code of Conduct framework and NMHS Values.
The EarlyPregnancy Assessment Service (EPAS) is an outpatient clinic thatprovides specialist medical and midwifery care, includingultrasound and biochemistry, for women experiencing early pregnancycomplications. The EPAS service provides assessment, diagnosis,treatment, education and support, including management of earlypregnancy loss. The Clinical Midwife coordinates the journey of awomen within the multidisciplinary team through early pregnancyassessment: loss or continuation of a pregnancy.
