Our recovery unit is a vital part of the patient journey, ensuring safe and comfortable transitions from anaesthesia to full consciousness. Job Summary We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Recovery Practitioner to join our theatre team. The ideal candidate will be a registered nurse (RGN) or operating department practitioner (ODP) with experience in post-anaesthetic care. You will be responsible for monitoring patients as they recover from anaesthesia and surgery, ensuring they receive high-quality, safe, and responsive care. Key Responsibilities Provide safe, effective, and evidence-based post-anaesthetic care to patients in the recovery area Monitor vital signs, manage airways, and address any post-operative complications promptly Administer prescribed medications, including pain relief and anti-emetics Collaborate with the anaesthetist, surgical team, and wider clinical staff to ensure seamless patient care Prepare recovery bays and equipment in accordance with hospital protocols and infection control standards Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records Support patients and families with clear communication and reassurance during the recovery phase Participate in audits, training, and quality improvement initiatives within the department Requirements Essential: Registered Nurse (RGN) with NMC registration or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) with HCPC registration Proven experience in recovery or post-anaesthesia care Sound clinical knowledge and ability to respond to changing patient conditions BLS (Basic Life Support) certified; ALS (Advanced Life Support) desirable Excellent communication and teamwork skills High attention to detail and ability to remain calm under pressure Desirable ILS or ALS Experience in a private hospital or independent sector Knowledge of CQC standards and evidence of contributing to good outcomes in previous roles What We Offer Competitive salary Private healthcare and wellness benefits Funded CPD and professional development opportunities Free parking A supportive and collaborative working environment Apply Now
