Duration: Temporary initially with a view to go temp to perm after around 3 months
Hours: 9am - 5pm Monday to Friday
Salary: £15.38 - £20.51 per hour dependent on experience

Polytec are looking for a skilled Mechanical Technician to join our Cambridge based client. The successful candidate will support laboratory-based research, prototype development and testing activities. This is a hands‑on role suited to a Technician with strong mechanical skills who enjoys working in a collaborative engineering environment.
Responsibilities
* Assembly, setup, maintenance and troubleshooting of mechanical systems and test rigs
* Supporting experimental testing including test rig operation and accurately recording data
* Maintaining laboratory equipment, tools and consumables
* Manual machining of one‑off parts
* Ensuring health & safety and quality procedures are followed
* Working closely with engineers to support ongoing R&D programmes
Requirements
* A formal engineering qualification in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent industry experience
* Minimum 3 years' experience in an R&D, engineering or industrial environment
* Strong practical skills in mechanical systems
* Experience working with workshop equipment
* Proactive, flexible approach with strong attention to detail
