Trafford Alternative Education Provision is an OFSTED registered Pupil Referral Unit that comprises of: Trafford High (THS) and Trafford Medical Education Service. (TMES). Further information about the school can be found on our website.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated, and experienced Head of English to join our dynamic team. As the Head of Department, you will lead and inspire the English team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, engaging, and innovative English lessons that motivate our students to achieve their full potential. You will play a key role in shaping the curriculum and developing strategies to support students with a wide range of learning needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead, manage, and motivate the English department to deliver excellent outcomes for students.
Oversee the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of the English curriculum.
Ensure that lessons are tailored to meet the diverse needs of students within an alternative education setting.
Provide leadership and professional development opportunities for department staff.
Work closely with other departments and the senior leadership team to ensure the holistic development of students.
Monitor student progress, implement intervention strategies, and provide regular feedback to both students and parents.
Contribute to the school's wider strategic development and participate in the leadership team.
About You:
A qualified teacher with QTS and significant experience teaching English at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
Proven leadership experience,
Strong communication skills with the ability to inspire and support both staff and students.
Passionate about making a difference in the lives of students who face barriers to learning.
Committed to continuous improvement and able to manage and motivate a team to achieve high standards.
Knowledge of SEND and alternative education practices, including students who have a range of emotional, social, and behavioural needs, would be an advantage.
