Pay: £500 per day (Inside IR35)
Location: Hampshire
Contract: 3 months (could be extended)
Job Purpose:
This role involves designing and developing electronics hardware for next-generation products as part of the company's vehicle and track Condition Monitoring System. The focus is on developing hardware designs for Wired and Wireless Sensor Nodes and Monitoring Control Units.
The position is based at the company's office in Eastleigh, with a hybrid office/home working arrangement once settled. Office attendance is required for design and planning meetings and hardware configuration.
You will report to the Engineering Manager. Collaboration with the Embedded Software Team is essential for product development.
Principal Responsibilities/Duties:
* Design and develop new electronics from concept to mass production under supervision.
* Create power-efficient, reliable designs suited to the target market.
* Manage Electronic Design Data, including PCB Designs, Component Libraries, Bills of Materials, and Manufacturing Documentation.
* Follow hardware development processes and quality standards.
* Support existing products through manufacture, testing, and returns investigations.
* Assist other departments like Firmware/Software/Test in product development and qualification.
General:
* Adhere to company procedures and processes.
* Engage in staff development and performance reviews.
* Perform other duties as requested by the line manager.
* Additional responsibilities as appropriate within the department or other sections of the organization.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
* Minimum 2 years’ experience in an Electronics Design role.
* Proficiency in Schematic Capture and PCB Design using Altium Designer or similar ECAD software.
* Strong organization skills for managing design data.
* Understanding of analogue and digital circuits, including power management.
* Experience with digital communication buses (UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, etc.).
* Experience designing low power embedded systems with ARM Cortex M microcontrollers (e.g., STM32).
* Knowledge of EMC and Environmental compliance testing.
* Design for Test and Design for Manufacture experience.
* Ability to debug with oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers.
* Knowledge of 2D/3D mechanical CAD software, preferably AutoCAD Inventor.
Additional skills include proficiency in Microsoft Office, analytical problem-solving, effective documentation, teamwork, initiative, communication skills, and a proactive attitude.
