Job Description
Meridian Energy conducts hundreds of important projects every year on its wind and hydro assets. The purpose of this role is to provide financial and system support, analysis, and insight on project financial status and forecasts.
The role requires building strong relationships with project owners around the country to provide them with visibility of their spend and assistance with forecasting. Working effectively with the Meridian Strategy and Finance team is an important part of this role, in order to build budgets, track spend and forecast against Generation’s business plan.
This role involves administrating, improving, and automating a range of project and business processes including financial approvals and capitalisations.
Other accountabilities include:
* Providing financial and project insight, analysis and support to projects,project owners, budget holders and Generation leadership.
* Improving and automating project and business processes to ensure accurate project forecast and cost management.
* Maintaining and supporting purchasing, general ledger, and project cost integrity, to help facilitate strong financial management and reporting.
* Preparation of monthly reconciliations and assisting with audit queries.
* Assisting generation with team business planning, interim, and year end reporting.
* Managing the Asset Capitalisation process for the Generation business unit.
Please note, this role can be worked from either our Christchurch, Wellington, or Twizel offices.
What you’ll bring
We are looking for someone who is passionate about renewable energy, and keen to work with a bunch of awesome people around the country. You will be comfortable working on data analysis, administration, and communicating with colleagues around the business to enable them to achieve their goals.
Key skills include:
* Relevant tertiary qualification e.g. finance, engineering, or accounting. 2-3 years’ experience with finance related systems and analysis, as well as strong accounting knowledge and skills.
* Expertise in analytical, automation and visualisation tools, including Power BI, SQL, Power Automate, Python and Excel.
* Experience with financial accounting and reporting systems like Navision, Cognos, Oracle, Maximo.
* Previous financial analysis and administration experience in within a major project environment such as infrastructure, project management, or construction.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a strong customer focus and service orientation.
