We are seeking a caring, patient and proactive PA who can support a 13-year-old girl with a diagnosis of autism (with a PDA profile) ADHD, moderate learning difficulties, a genetic chromosomal disorder, sensory processing differences and generalised anxiety. The role would be to help support the individual with accessing the community. The ideal PA will be calm, empathetic, flexible and able to build a trusting relationship, responding sensitively to her emotional and sensory needs while promoting independence, confidence and wellbeing. The role would include supporting the individual to safely access the community and participate in activities that she enjoys while helping to promote confidence and wellbeing, while out in the community it would also include always maintain close supervision when in the community to ensure her safety due to a risk of running off. Manage and reduce potential risks in public settings, including busy or noisy environments, and support the use of ear defenders as needed. The role would also include supporting emotional regulation, using calm and consistent approaches while responding sensitively to anxiety and distress. This would also involve encouraging positive social interaction and communication in ways that feel safe and meaningful for her. This would involve recognising signs of sensory overload and anxiety and adapt activities or environments accordingly. Support with daily routines as required including gentle prompts and encouragement while also respecting and promoting independence. Build a trusting, consistent and positive relationship with the child and her family. Provide the family with planned respite by offering reliable, compassionate care. Communicate effectively with parents/carers, providing updates as appropriate. This role is for 3 week out of the month.
