Responsibilities
* To assist the manager in achieving the aims and objectives of the statement of purpose and to deputise in the absence of the registered manager.
* To support and manage the staff to enable them to meet the needs of the children and young people.
* To undertake direct work with children and young people as appropriate and to be the responsible person in managing child protection concerns and complaints.
* To work in partnership with other professionals to achieve optimum outcomes for young people.
* To offer supervision and support to senior staff in line with care quality standards and Children’s Homes Regulations 2015.
* Ensure that each young person has an allocated key worker and that staff are aware of each child's placement plan and responsibilities for its implementation.
* Attend childcare reviews and planning meetings to provide information and achieve best outcomes for young people.
* Undertake direct work with young people and act as an appropriate role model.
* Assist in developing systems in which young people are consulted about the quality of care they receive.
* Assist the Registered Manager in the implementation of all aspects of the Statement of Purpose.
* Contribute to devising, implementing and evaluating changes with front line staff to continually improve services, systems and standards, with the Registered Manager and the Senior Management team.
* Depose in the absence of the Registered Manager and support on and off the rota to ensure adequate staffing according to the needs of young people.
* Ensure resources are allocated appropriately and financial records are accurately maintained.
Qualifications / Experience / Requirements
* NVQ 3 in caring for Children and Young People (or equivalent).
* Understanding of Ofsted framework (SCCIF).
* 12 months experience working in a residential setting with young people with challenging behaviour, including supervisory experience.
* Knowledge of the Children Act and other relevant legislation.
* Team building skills, supervision skills, and the ability to manage teams effectively.
* Excellent organisational skills and the ability to motivate and enthuse staff.
* A Full UK driving licence is required due to the location and nature of the role.
