Job Overview
Applicants are invited to apply for the role of Simulation Fellow in Frimley Emergency Department. The role is 75% clinical and 25% non-clinical. We are looking for doctors to start in August 2025.
This is an excellent opportunity for doctors to maintain clinical work while dedicating time to areas of personal interest. It supports sustainable working and helps build CVs and experience.
Study leave: 18 days (10 days general, 5 days private, 3 days for exams/interviews). Study budget: £650/year.
The emergency medicine rota includes evenings, nights, weekends, and bank holidays. LTFT enquiries are welcome.
Minimum requirements: Applicants must have at least 24 months NHS experience. Open to ST1/2 and ST3+ applicants.
Main duties of the job
1. Attend a Level 1 emergency ultrasound course within the first 3 months if not already qualified, including FAST, AAA, echo in life support, and vascular access.
2. Self-directed time to become Level 1 accredited, with support from your supervisor and ultrasound tutor.
3. Post-accreditation, undertake POCUS scans to inform clinical decisions for non-accredited colleagues.
4. Lead on POCUS-related quality improvement projects.
5. Organise ultrasound teaching for ED staff, including ultrasound-guided access training and coordinating practical teaching sessions.
6. Deliver Level 1 training locally to ED staff once qualified.
7. Collaborate with other ED fellows to expand experience and support projects.
