What are we looking for
We have an opportunity for a Lead Process Engineer. In this role, you will use best practices and knowledge of internal or external issues to improve the process engineering discipline within ITM and will have administrative and technical responsibility for the process and systems engineering team. The role involves solving complex problems and applying discipline-specific knowledge to improve ITM products. The successful candidate should be capable of performing process studies, including process optimisation to confirm/optimise the electrolyser process design configuration, flare, relief, blowdown/depressurizing, vent system design, utility system sizing. You will participate in safety reviews, including HAZOP/HAZID studies and process safety assessments.
You will be capable of leading work on small and medium-sized projects or areas within larger projects and must be well-versed in industry-standard design codes for chemical process plants.
Responsibilities
* Responsible for process modelling, developing heat and material balances, utility balances, and process flow diagrams (PFD) for the entire plant using programs such as Hysys/Unisim.
* Develop piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) and equipment specifications.
* Perform process equipment sizing, hydraulic and heat exchanger design, and pressure relief calculations.
* Evaluate and optimise process design alternatives to ensure safety, efficiency, and compliance with standards and regulations.
* Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to integrate process design with mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation designs.
* Provide process and systems engineering information throughout proposal, engineering, and construction phases to project teams.
* Create and review pressure and explosive atmosphere safety cases.
* Participate in design safety studies such as HAZOP and LOPA.
* Create and review operation/maintenance manuals and FAT procedures.
* Review customer inquiries and process design requests thoroughly.
* Participate in project meetings, reviews, and technical discussions with clients and stakeholders.
* Assist in plant start-up activities and direct performance testing, reporting results accordingly.
About You
Knowledge and Experience
* Bachelor's or master's degree in process or chemical engineering.
* 10+ years of experience in oil and gas, chemical, or gas processing EPC industry, primarily with major EPC companies.
* Proficiency in process engineering software such as UNISIM, HYSYS, Aspen Plus, and PipeSim.
* Experience working on multi-disciplinary projects and teams.
* Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
* Competent in MS Office Suite.
Advantageous
* Additional technical knowledge in Alkaline, SOEC, SMR, fuel cells, energy storage systems, or chemical synthesis.
* Knowledge of pressure systems, Pressure Equipment Directives, ATEX, and relevant legislation.
* Chartered Professional Engineer certification is a plus.
* Familiarity with process control via PLC systems and Safety Instrumented Systems.
* Experience chairing HAZOP and LOPA studies.
