Electrical Installation, Inspection, Testing, Certification and Reporting
The inspection and testing course is five days in duration provided by NWBT, Burnley. The aim of the course is to provide learners with the knowledge and understanding involved with both initial and periodic inspection and testing of electrical installations in accordance with statutory and non‑statutory requirements. The practical assessment will be scheduled during the training with the tutor. The following content will be covered throughout the course:
* Understand the health and safety requirements which apply when inspecting, testing and commissioning an electrical installation.
* Understand the requirements for inspecting and testing electrical installations.
* Understand the requirements for the safe inspection of electrical installations.
* Understand the requirements for the safe testing of electrical installations.
* Carry out the inspection and testing of an electrical installation.
Although there are no formal entry requirement it is aimed for those who wish to further their career in the electrotechnical sector, electricians who wish to carry out inspection, testing and commissioning; and periodic inspection, testing and condition reporting, and those who wish to obtain an Industry recognised qualification.
Assessment
There is 1 on‑screen examination which is open book. There are also 2 centre‑marked practical assessments covering the practical outcomes of this unit which will be carried out over 1 day (additional to the five day training). All assessments need to be achieved for the qualification to be awarded.
Equipment Supplied
The cost of the course includes a copy of the new Guidance Note 3 on Inspection and testing, Learning Guide registration and exam fees.
