Introducing the role
This is a brand new role, so it’s exciting.
We’re looking for someone who is ready to take the next step in your career, and also play a key role in helping us move forward at Electrify.
As we come up to our tenth anniversary, we’re extremely busy.
Our reputation is outstanding, and we work across some incredibly powerful projects.
Some of our clients right now include Suicide Prevention Scotland, VSA, HCPT, Age Scotland, Children First, Held In Our Hearts, and Routes to Work.
The work we do isn’t easy. We value co-production, the idea that we don’t have all the answers; that we must fully engage with people who bring their own lived and living experiences.
This means we work in a unique way, very different to most agencies.
Electrify is owner-led with Lawrence & Lauren as equals. Again, that’s a little bit different, but central to our approach.
Perhaps it’s because it’s our tenth year, but we’ve reflected a lot in recent months about how to take Electrify forward.
Our conclusion is that we need to strengthen both capacity and leadership in our design team.
That’s no reflection on anyone in the building, but we recognise that now is the time for us to invest to give us more depth.
Within our creative team we also have a senior filmmaker who will continue to report directly to Lauren.
There are two key parts to this role, so let’s explain them in simple terms before you read the role profile.
Firstly, we’re looking for a brilliant designer.
Whether you’re building brilliant visual multiplatform campaigns, designing reports, creating motion graphics or explainer animations, you'll be able to develop inspiring content that helps us tell our client’s extraordinary stories.
Note, that we need someone who can deliver static and motion design.
This is a senior role, so you will be involved in every part of the creative process, including research, engagement, concept development, and creative production.
Additionally, you will have leadership responsibility. As it stands, there are two direct reports (we don’t really like that phrase though).
You will manage their workflow, quality assure their outputs, and support them through our Performance Framework.
This is our staff review & development process, which is our way of assessing what makes a brilliant outcome for our clients, the business - and ourselves!
Working effectively is an enabler to creativity too, so you’ll help us maintain our Business Process Document, which is a key part of our drive to be consistent and efficient.
We’re continuing to look at new ways to work, embracing new technologies too.
A new AI policy is being developed as we start to understand where it can (and cannot) add value to our work.
And we continue to invest in tech both equipment and platforms.
For this to work for you and us, you will be hungry - very hungry - to learn more, acquire new skills and knowledge.
We’re a dynamic team that never stops moving forward.
Speaking of our team, when it comes to creativity everyone is an equal. Nobody has a monopoly on ideas or wisdom.
We’ll need you to help us make sure we live our values, and create the right environment.
Your growth and development matters, too. You’ll also take part in our Performance Framework.
So, you’ll work with Lauren to evaluate your performance, set realistic development objectives. In return, we reward commitment and excellence for the part you play.
Depending on your progress you’ll be able to earn an additional bonus - one of two we offer annually.
One important thing to know is that we work full time from our office base in Livingston.
We passionately believe in and see the power of working together collaboratively in a creative environment. For this role we require you to have a full driving licence and car.
We’re confident that if you join our team then you’re in for an amazing adventure in a place where you can be yourself, flourish and be fearless knowing that we’ve got your back.

Attributes
Here’s the super six things we’re looking for in a candidate:
Intuitively creative and diverse in approach and style - you’ll have a thirst for ideas, and a commitment to pushing boundaries - you’ll ‘get it’ (if you know, you know!)
Bold in your ideas - we want people who are brave, and who will have the confidence to speak up. When it comes to creativity, everyone is equal at Electrify
Attention to detail - you’ll be forensic in your approach from understanding the brief through to creative execution. Everything leaving us has to be brilliant
Phenomenally well organised - we believe that being organised, great at time management, and good at prioritising is a key enabler to creativity. Being organised is vital to us
A problem solver - we’re storytellers, regardless of our role and so working out effective ways to tell a story, often requires moving jigsaw pieces around to find the best way
Comprehension / decoding - you’ll be able to take briefs, read them, understand what the message is, and find great ways to respond to them. Great English skills are vital
Our view on qualifications
You may have relevant qualifications in multimedia or content creation, but that’s not the most important thing for us - and it is not how we decide who to meet or offer any role to.
What’s far more important for everyone at Electrify is personality and character - as well as a great
track record in delivering for the role you are applying to.
When we meet candidates we ask them to tell us about their experience, and try to relate it to what
we’re looking for. The more practical you can be, the better.
