The opportunity
I am supporting a leading UK infrastructure organisation to appoint an HV Transmission Engineering Lead to steer multi‑discipline design delivery across major onshore transmission projects. You’ll lead an in‑house team of electrical engineers and designers through the full lifecycle—from tender and pre‑construction, into construction support and handover—partnering closely withmercial, delivery and sector teams to meet programme, budget and quality objectives. What you’ll be doing
1. Act as the primary liaison between Engineering and wider internal/external stakeholders across a portfolio of HV transmission & substation projects.
2. Own resource planning and forecasting for the electrical design function; balance workloads, skills and recruitment against demand.
3. Lead safe, on‑time, on‑budget design delivery; define scope and service requirements, monitor performance, and report transparently to senior leadership and project clients.
4. Assure technicalpliance and quality across all deliverables; embed the required regulatory/standards assurance, validation and testing activities.
5. Provide hands‑on support to resolveplex technical challenges; drive value engineering and robust change control to minimise unnecessary scope creep.
6. Manage third‑party designers and supply‑chain partners—approvals, petency, specificationpliance and technicalernance.
7. Contribute as a subject‑matter expert to bids and early‑stage pursuits, shaping best‑in‑class value propositions and future pipeline.
