Health & Fitness Officer (Scale 4) Leisure Overview We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated Health & Fitness Officers to join the Leisure & Community Wellbeing team. This is a great opportunity to play a hands-on role in improving community health and wellbeing while working in a positive and energetic leisure environment. Location Hillsborough Road, Carryduff, Belfast What Youll Be Doing This is an active, member-facing role with a wide range of responsibilities, including: Supporting members to achieve their fitness goals through tailored programmes and fitness testing Delivering a range of fitness classes suitable for different ages and ability levels Working alongside the Healthwise & Wellbeing Officer to deliver exercise programmes and liaising with health professionals where required Promoting the Vitality Health and Fitness Gym and delivering high-quality gym inductions Ensuring health and safety policies are followed at all times, including carrying out risk assessments Maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming gym environment, including equipment checks and cleaning duties Creating an inclusive and supportive space for all users, including children and vulnerable adults Maintaining service standards and completing relevant records and documentation Assisting with the setup and takedown of equipment Promoting equality, dignity and respect in the workplace and in service delivery Do You Have What It Takes? Essential Criteria Five GCSEs grades AC, NVQ Level 2, or equivalent A recognised Level 2 Fitness or Gym Instruction qualification At least two years experience in lifestyle and fitness testing and health promotion within the leisure industry OR Four years relevant experience if the qualifications above are not held Desirable Criteria Additional qualifications such as lifeguarding, TRX, Boxercise or other group exercise certifications Experience using computerised booking systems or cash handling systems Skills Required Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook Strong communication and engagement skills with the ability to motivate and support others A friendly, approachable and professional manner A Day in the Role You will spend most of your time on the gym floor, supporting members, delivering fitness sessions, carrying out assessments and promoting wellbeing programmes. You will help ensure safety standards are met, equipment is maintained, and members receive a high-quality fitness experience every time they visit.
