Nanomaterials Scientist Role Summary:
We seek a materials scientist to support material research activities using a variety of instrumentation and characterisation techniques, developing test protocols and analysing results. This person will have particular experience with conductivity and resistivity measurements, including 4-point and 2-point probes. Experience with SEM, TGA and Raman spectroscopy desirable, but not required.
Key Responsibilities:
* Sample analysis: Conduct regular materials analysis (quantitative and qualitative), including conductivity measurements, and provide occasional support with advanced microscopy characterisation techniques.
* Material preparation: Preparation of catalyst compounds, reagents, including gaseous and liquid samples.
* Method development: Contribute towards standard protocols for chemical analysis and develop repeatable quality control techniques.
* Collaboration: Collaborating with team members across operations, science and engineering to support experiments required to mature production techniques.
* Analytical Strategy & External Implementation: Identify the most effective analytical technique and procedure to detect and quantify samples; collaborate with research institutes and analytical facilities to coordinate and accelerate analysis.
* Laboratory Management: Maintaining general chemical safety and supporting the maintenance of instrumentation.
Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate will likely have a scientific post-graduate qualification or have laboratory technician experience in a similar technology development environment. This person should be a quick learner who can rapidly grasp our development roadmap. The ideal candidate is a good communicator and collaborator across technical specialities. They will be able to describe technical and scientific issues to non-technical colleagues.
