We're looking for a dedicated and detail-focused Sterile Services Technician to join a highly skilled team within an accredited Sterile Services Department (SSD). You'll play a vital role in supporting patient care by ensuring medical instruments are thoroughly decontaminated, sterilised, and ready for use across healthcare settings.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on, process-driven work in a fast-paced environment, with full training and development provided.
Monday to Friday 07:00-15:00 and 12:00-20:00, plus a rostered Saturday shift (08:00-16:00).
Some Bank Holidays may be required, along with participation in on-call and overtime as needed.
Main duties of the job
* Reprocessing reusable medical devices (cleaning, sterilising, assembling, packing, and dispatching)
* Operating specialist decontamination equipment and carrying out routine testing
* Recording all tasks on a traceability system to ensure compliance and accuracy
* Supporting the handling and disinfection of endoscopes
* Maintaining high standards in line with ISO 13485:2016 and department procedures
* Communicating effectively with colleagues and healthcare professionals
* Supporting new team members and contributing to a positive team environment

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Good standard of education (e.g. GCSEs or equivalent)
* Willingness to complete required training and competency assessments
* Level 3 qualification (or working towards)
* Decontamination qualification (e.g. City & Guilds or equivalent)
Experience
* Experience working in a team environment
* Experience in a role requiring attention to detail
* Experience in sterile services or decontamination
* Experience working in a healthcare or production environment
* Experience using IT or tracking systems
Additional Criteria
* Ability to follow procedures and instructions accurately
* Basic IT skills and ability to use workplace systems
* Good communication skills, both written and verbal
* Awareness of decontamination processes or standards (e.g. HTM, IPC, COSHH)
* Basic understanding of traceability systems
* Knowledge of quality or compliance processes
