Prison Offender Manager

We are looking for a proactive and resilient Prison Offender Manager to join our team, playing a vital role in offender rehabilitation and public protection. This is an engaging and impactful position where you will work directly with individuals to reduce reoffending and support safer communities.
About the Role
You will manage and assess a caseload of low to medium risk offenders, leading on sentence planning and supporting their progress through custody. By building professional and constructive relationships, you will motivate individuals to engage with education, training, and rehabilitation opportunities.
You will also support probation colleagues with high-risk cases and contribute to risk management and safeguarding processes across the prison.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage offender cases, including sentence planning, reviews, and assessments
* Use risk assessment tools (e.g. OASys) to identify and manage risks
* Produce clear, high-quality reports for Parole Boards, MAPPA, and other agencies
* Work collaboratively with probation staff, keyworkers, and external partners
* Support offenders to engage in interventions, education, and employment
* Maintain accurate case records and meet required timescales
* Contribute to public protection through effective communication and information sharing
About You
You will have strong interpersonal and analytical skills, with the ability to work with individuals from diverse and sometimes challenging backgrounds. You’ll be confident managing sensitive situations, assessing risk, and influencing positive behavioural change.
Essential:
* GCSEs (or equivalent)
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Experience working with people facing complex or challenging circumstances
* Ability to assess risk and make informed decisions
Desirable:
* Background in criminology, psychology, or a related field
* Knowledge of offender management practices and legislation
* Experience contributing to reports or formal hearings
