You will work as part of the product development team responsible for design, manufacture, test and commissioning of board and system level test equipment for laser products within Coherent. You will also, as part of the compliance role, be responsible for defining and ensuring compliance requirements are met, support and carry out regulatory certification testing of our laser products. Responsibilities will include: Design, build and commission well-designed test equipment to support manufacturing that meets specified Coherent product standards, within budget and schedule. Generate test specification through to manufacturing data pack for test equipment. Provide technical support all through the test equipment's full lifecycle. Develop tools, methods, and techniques to improve test equipment design. Contribute technically within the wider engineering team to develop design for test (DFT) strategy for new products. Ensure all technical compliance, regulatory standards and its relevant test documentation and certifications are up to date. Establish and implement plans, strategies and procedures for compliance and risk assessments for regulatory conformance of products. Coordinate and manage testing of products with external test laboratories, ensure product meets all regulatory approvals. Provide support and guidance to engineers on conformance with relevant regulations during product development. Support with technical issues relating to regulatory compliance involving product design, manufacture, and field issues. Essential Skills Test and regulatory compliance engineer with demonstrable experience in an industrial environment. Experience in microcontrollers, FPGA, CPLD, mixed analogue, and digital circuit designs, ADC and DAC. Communication protocols such as UART, CAN Bus, I2C, SPI, and USB Experience in Schematics Capture, PCB Design, Tools, and Layout Practical experience in use of languages and tools for software design of test equipme Scripting Language, C and C++, In-Circuit-Debugging (ICD) and Terminal Emulator Excellent debugging skills, ability to integrate and validate electronics and system designs. Understanding of CE & UK CA marking process, EMC, LVD & RoHS regulatory conformance Hands on experience in CE testing and fault-finding during pre-compliance testing Ability to manage and maintain Technical Construction File for each product. A good understanding of product design from specification through to delivery Ability to respond to technical inquiries from other departments and customers in a clear, accurate, and professional manner (both written and in person) Graduate calibre, able to work in a team environment and with minimum supervision. Preferred additional Skills Design experience in STM32F series ARM core processors Experience with Toradex based embedded computing modules. Altium Designer CAD package Awareness of scientific and medical laser regulatory standards
