Interviews will be held on Friday 13 February 2026

Are you passionate about high quality, responsive and modern urgent and emergency care services? This is an exciting opportunity to lead a division that plays a critical role in patient flow and care quality across our organisation and wider health and care system. The Divisional Director role is a pivotal point of leadership in shaping services and inspiring teams, to deliver care that makes a real difference to patients and communities.

What You\'ll Do

* Provide strategic and operational leadership for our Emergency Departments, admission avoidance initiatives, and integrated frailty services.
* Drive collaboration with Place partners to deliver seamless care across health and social care systems. This will include providing leadership and delivery to development of Urgent Care Coordination in Cambridgeshire & Peterborough in partnership with others.
* Creating and maintaining relationships with partner organisations to support innovation in urgent and emergency care, ensuring services are safe, efficient, and patient-focused, and as close to home as possible for our population.
* Work closely with other divisions, executive colleagues, and system partners to deliver integrated models of care.
* Lead the clinical quality - patient safety, clinical effectiveness, patient experience and team health - agenda for UEC Division.

Main duties of the job

About You

* A strong clinical background is essential - you may be a Consultant, GP, senior clinician, or experienced healthcare leader.
* Proven ability to lead complex services and work across organisational boundaries.
* Passionate about improving patient outcomes and delivering high-quality, sustainable care.
* Experience of listening to staff and patients and then acting to deliver improvement.
* An explicit and evidenced commitment to high clinical care and professional standards at all times.

About us

Why Join Us?

* Be part of a forward-thinking leadership team committed to transformation and integration.
* Take forward an ambitious strategy of transformation across our Health and Care Partnership.
* Build on our Culture of Improvement, Quality Improvement and existing per support work in UEC to leverage change that is sustainable, with the support and permission of the Trust Board.
* Benefit from strong support across the executive team and work collaboratively to shape the future of urgent and emergency care.

This is more than a leadership role - it's an opportunity to make a lasting impact on patient care and system integration.

Job responsibilities

As Divisional Director for Urgent & Emergency Care, you will work as part of a triumvirate leadership model, alongside the Divisional Operations Director and Divisional Director of Nursing, to deliver outstanding care across our Emergency Department and integrated urgent care pathways. The Trust\'s Clinical Strategy commits us to working with partners to develop more community-based specialist pathways such as a Virtual Hospital at Home and neighbourhood urgent care models, aligning with primary care and community services for more patient-centred and personalised care. We are an improvement-focused organisation and in UEC there is real benefit to be gained for staff and patients from improving flow and experience, eliminating corridor care through relationships with other divisions, working with non-hospital-based teams, and reviewing our internal operating model across the week and across sites, to improve access.
