Job Title: VMware Solutions Architect (VMware Cloud Foundation)
Overview
We are seeking an experienced VMware Solutions Architect (VCF) to lead the design, architecture, and delivery of enterprise-grade VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) solutions across client environments. This role is responsible for end-to-end Software‑Defined Data Center (SDDC) architecture, including vSphere, vSAN, NSX, and VMware Aria components.
The ideal candidate brings deep hands‑on deployment experience combined with strong architectural leadership within MSP or enterprise environments.
The role will require you 2-3 days a week onsite in the clients Belfast office.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead design and architecture of VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) environments.
* Develop High‑Level Design (HLD) and Low‑Level Design (LLD) documentation.
* Architect scalable, secure, and highly available SDDC solutions.
* Perform capacity planning, workload placement strategy, and lifecycle design.
* Design multi‑cluster and multi‑site architectures including DR strategies.
VMware Cloud Foundation Stack Ownership
* Architect and integrate core VCF components:
* vSphere
* vSAN
* NSX (NSX‑T)
* VMware Aria (Operations, Automation, Lifecycle)
* Design VCF Workload Domains and management domains.
* Oversee SDDC Manager and Lifecycle Manager (LCM) implementation and upgrades.
* Ensure full‑stack integration including networking, storage, and compute layers.
Deployment & Delivery
* Lead greenfield and brownfield VCF deployments.
* Oversee VCF bring‑up, configuration, and validation.
* Provide hands‑on technical leadership during implementation phases.
* Troubleshoot complex multi‑layer infrastructure issues.
* Support migration strategies from legacy infrastructure to VCF.
Automation & Modernisation
* VMware Aria Automation
* Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, PowerCLI)
* Integrate VCF into hybrid and multi‑cloud strategies.
MSP / Client Engagement
* Conduct discovery workshops and technical assessments.
* Translate business requirements into scalable technical architectures.
* Provide technical leadership during pre‑sales engagements.
* Present architecture solutions to technical and executive stakeholders.
Required Experience
* 7+ years in VMware infrastructure engineering.
* 3+ years direct VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) experience.
* Proven experience architecting enterprise SDDC environments.
* Hands‑on experience with:
* VCF bring‑up and lifecycle management
* vSphere cluster design and optimisation
* vSAN architecture and storage policy design
* NSX‑T logical networking and micro‑segmentation
* Experience delivering solutions within MSP or multi‑tenant environments.
* Strong troubleshooting skills across compute, network, and storage layers.
