Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Band 7 Sonographer to join our dynamic ultrasound team within the Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC). The successful candidate will be responsible for independently performing a wide range of general medical ultrasound examinations and contributing to high-quality diagnostic services.
This is a full-time position, requiring flexibility and a commitment to delivering excellent patient care in line with NHS standards. Previous NHS experience is essential.
Key Responsibilities Independently perform and report on a variety of general medical ultrasound scans including: * Abdominal * Gynaecological * Testicular * Soft tissue * Groin
Ensure high standards of clinical practice in line with national guidelines and Trust protocols.
Accurately document and communicate findings using the Radiology Information System (RIS) and Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).
Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team within the CDC and other Trust departments.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of advancements in ultrasound technology and procedures.
Contribute to service development, quality improvement initiatives, and peer review processes.
Assist in training and mentoring junior staff and students as required.
Essential Requirements Postgraduate qualification in Medical Ultrasound (PGCert/PGDip/MSc or equivalent). NHS experience in a Sonographer role. Competence in a wide range of general ultrasound examinations (as listed above). Current HCPC registration Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and manage own workload. Commitment to providing patient-centred care and maintaining confidentiality.
Desirable Experience working in or transitioning to a Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) environment. Knowledge of quality assurance and audit practices in ultrasound..
Work Hours/Location: Full-time hours, typically Monday to Friday with occasional weekend cover if required. Based at the Community Diagnostic Centre, with potential for cross-site working depending on service needs
