Overview
You will serve as a Supervisory Human Resources Specialist in the Classification and Special Programs Department of the Fleet Human Resources Office at Norfolk Naval Shipyard.
Responsibilities
* Provide administrative and technical supervision to assigned staff.
* Advise employees and managers on position classification processes and classification tools.
* Resolve difficult issues requiring consideration of the human resource management program.
* Assist in classification decisions and the use of the automated classification system.
* Support staff planning for re‑organizations, including consolidation or realignment of functions.
* Communicate and support Equal Employment Opportunity policies to subordinates.
Requirements
* Must be a United States Citizen.
* Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
* Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
* Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
* Must be able to travel to CONUS and OCONUS, including remote or isolated sites, for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
* Demonstrated at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS‑12 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
* Experience providing administrative and technical supervision to assigned staff with in‑depth knowledge of personnel management and position classification.
* Experience applying comprehensive knowledge of classification rules, regulations, and advising management in accomplishment of their responsibilities, delivering HR projects in a high‑quality customer service environment.
* Experience providing comprehensive advice to employees and management on position classification processes and position management policies, including supervisory ratios, job restructuring, and reorganizations.
* Experience applying a variety of analytical techniques to independently resolve a wide‑range conflicting classification matters.
