Practice Operations Manager at Great Western Medical Practice, Aberdeen, Scotland
Are you an experienced and motivated leader with a background in primary care or healthcare operations? Do you want to play a key role in delivering safe, effective, and high-quality services for patients?
Great Western Medical Practice is seeking a dedicated Practice Operations Manager to lead the day-to-day running of the practice. You will oversee our reception, administration, and secretarial teams while ensuring smooth operational systems, compliance with governance requirements, and delivery of excellent patient care.
This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with the Business Manager and wider leadership team, contributing to the continued development of services that put patients first and support the vision of One Medical Group.
This is a permanent part-time job 32.5 hours per week. The full-time equivalent is 40 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the operational delivery of primary care services in line with contracts, policies, and quality standards.
* Monitor performance against patient access, demand, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
* Produce monthly operational and financial performance reports.
* Act as Health & Safety and Complaints Officer, ensuring compliance and effective resolution.
* Review audit and inspection reports (CQC and others) and oversee service improvements.
* Chair administrative team meetings and support multidisciplinary forums.
* Oversee practice systems, staffing rotas, and business continuity planning.
* Manage recruitment, induction, training, appraisal, and performance of admin staff.
* Support financial planning, budget control, and income generation.
* Ensure compliance with confidentiality, data protection, and accurate patient records.
What we’re looking for
Essential
* Educated to degree level in Business Administration (or equivalent experience).
* Minimum 3 years’ supervisory/management experience.
* Strong IT skills (Microsoft Office and clinical systems).
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Proven ability to work professionally, discreetly, and confidently at all levels.
* Experience of working with the public in a busy/challenging environment.
* Experience of leading and developing teams.
Desirable
* Previous experience in a General Practice or NHS environment.
* Knowledge of general practice systems and processes.

About Great Western Medical Practice
Located in Seafield, Aberdeen, we provide healthcare to around 10,000 patients from a modern, accessible health centre. We offer a variety of appointment typestelephone, face-to-face, and videoavailable Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm. The practice is conveniently situated near local amenities, including pharmacies, shops, and bus routes, with ample parking.
