Lead Radiographer – Bournemouth Hospital (Radiology)
Salary: Up to £50,000 per annum depending on experience.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week.
Employment: Permanent, Part Time.
We are looking for an experienced Lead Radiographer to manage part of the diagnostic imaging department, ensuring the delivery of high‑quality imaging services and possibly lead a specialty area such as MRI, CT, or mammography, while supporting the Radiology Manager.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide clinical leadership within a highly specialised area.
* Participate in departmental QA, audit and mandatory training.
* Scope and develop policies and procedures as a clinical lead.
* Deputise and support the Radiology Manager.
* Supervise and develop staff, including mentoring students and new staff.
* Collaborate with other departments and practitioners around the hospital.
* Treat each patient as an individual, showing understanding and empathy.
* Maintain excellent communication and team‑working abilities.
Required Qualifications & Experience
* Post‑qualification experience in MRI, including advanced MRI techniques (cardiac MRI).
* Experience in a management position in an operational or service‑management capacity.
* Experience dealing with challenging situations.
* Strong team‑working, organisational and leadership skills.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and staff‑management ability.
* Well‑developed analytical skills and innovative problem‑solving abilities.
* Mature judgement and decision‑making skills.
* Exceptional patient care knowledge.
* Awareness of budgetary implications and commercial impact.
* Detailed understanding of Clinical Governance.
* Robust MRI safety qualification preferred.
Additional Requirements
BSc degree in diagnostic radiography (or equivalent), a postgraduate qualification and HCPC registration. Working knowledge of IRMER, IRR and ability to undertake audits. Radiation Protection Supervisor training/qualification desirable. Successful candidates will undergo DBS disclosure.
