Tax Accountant – Hybrid Role (Leeds-Based)
An exciting opportunity has arisen within a central finance team of a rapidly growing energy sector organisation, seeking a skilled Tax Accountant to join their Leeds office on a hybrid working basis (typically 3 days in office).
About the Role
You will be responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of a range of tax returns and reports covering multiple legal entities of varying complexity. Collaboration across internal finance teams and with international tax colleagues will be key, alongside supporting corporate finance and procurement functions.
This role offers the chance to contribute to tax system improvements and help drive efficiency and compliance across the business.
Key Responsibilities

* Preparation of UK and Irish VAT returns.
\t
* Managing CIS returns, verifications, deduction statements, and RCT returns.
\t
* Preparing landfill tax, PSA, and corporation tax returns and related packs.
\t
* Identifying tax planning opportunities to maximise business value, such as VAT recovery.
\t
* Supporting Senior Accounting Officer requirements in liaison with senior finance leadership.
\t
* Leading tax process and system improvement initiatives.
\t
* Assisting with budget, forecast uploads, cashflow forecasting, and group tax submissions.
\t
* Coordinating timely and accurate submissions to external bodies, including regulatory surveys and levies.
\t
* Working closely with cross-functional teams to maintain tax compliance and identify efficiency opportunities.
About you:

* Experience in a tax-focused role within industry or practice.
\t
* Strong knowledge of UK taxation principles and application.
\t
* Proficiency with SAP is desirable.
\t
* Excellent Excel skills with the ability to handle complex models and analyses.
\t
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise competing tasks effectively.
\t
* Comfortable managing complex and technical tasks independently.
\t
* Qualified or part-qualified accountant (CTA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
