Job Title

Affiliate & PPC Lead

Location & Working Model

Hybrid – based in Essex (minimum 3 days/week in office) + remote flexibility.

Role Description

As the Affiliate & PPC Lead, you will take ownership of our affiliate marketing programme and lead the strategy, execution and optimisation of our performance acquisition channels (affiliate, PPC and paid social). You will work closely with agencies and internal stakeholders to deliver growth, efficiency and scalability in line with our brand of great quality, huge choice and ease of buying.

Key Responsibilities

* Develop, manage and scale the affiliate marketing programme: identify, recruit and onboard new affiliate partners/publishers, optimise existing partner relationships, set commission structures, negotiate deals and ensure performance meets/exceeds targets.
* Define affiliate channel KPIs (e.g., partner CAC, partner ROAS, incremental sales, churn/recurrence of affiliate‑driven customers) and build dashboards/reporting to measure and monitor performance.
* Manage budget and commission spend across affiliate and other performance channels; allocate budget to maximise incremental yield and efficiency.
* Oversee the paid acquisition channels (PPC: search, shopping, display; paid social: Meta, TikTok, LinkedIn etc.), working collaboratively but with a secondary focus—ensuring these channels are integrated with affiliate strategy and that referral traffic and paid traffic are optimised holistically.
* Lead agency relationships (for paid social, PPC and affiliate if agency‑supported): brief agencies, agree SLAs, monitor delivery, review performance, drive ongoing improvement and hold them accountable to agreed KPIs.
* Collaborate with internal teams – creative/content, e‑commerce/merchandising, web/UX, analytics – to ensure campaign messaging aligns with brand values (great quality, huge choice, ease of buying), landing pages convert, data tracking is solid and campaigns feed seamlessly into customer journey.
* Manage attribution and tracking frameworks to ensure proper crediting of affiliate vs paid channels; ensure data integrity, accurate measurement of incremental value, and the ability to report on influence/last click truly driven by affiliates.
* Design and execute test and learn programs: new affiliate models, new publisher segments, new creatives/promotions, and optimisation of paid channel tactics to support the affiliate funnel (for example: affiliate‑driven customers may engage differently than paid social).
* Monitor and control risk within the affiliate channel: ensure compliance with brand guidelines, monitor for fraud/invalid traffic, ensure publishers meet quality standards and the integrity of the programme is maintained.
* Stay up‑to‑date with trends in affiliate marketing, performance marketing, platform changes and emerging business models (e.g., influencer/creator partnerships, voucher/cashback networks, subscription models) and proactively recommend adoption where beneficial.
* Provide leadership and mentorship within the team: work with more junior colleagues, set process improvements, support the evolution of performance marketing capabilities in the business.

Experience & Requirements

* Minimum 5+ years’ experience in performance marketing roles, with significant focus on affiliate marketing (ideally 50%+ of your role has been affiliate or partner marketing).
* Proven track‑record of growing affiliate programmes: recruiting and managing publishers, negotiating deals/commissions, driving incremental growth, managing partner lifecycle and measuring performance improvements.
* Demonstrable experience working with and managing agencies across paid media (PPC/paid social) and affiliate channels: setting briefs, managing SLAs, holding agencies accountable, and driving ongoing performance improvement.
* Strong hands‑on experience in PPC (search, shopping, display) and paid social (Meta, TikTok, LinkedIn etc.).
* Excellent analytical capability: comfortable working with metrics such as ROAS, CPA, CAC, CLV, repeat purchase rate, conversion rate, and able to translate data into actionable optimisations.
* Experience with affiliate network platforms (or in‑house affiliate management software), tracking/attribution tools, Google Analytics (GA4), tag management, and e‑commerce tracking frameworks.
* Strong commercial acumen: understands how acquisition channels feed into business profit margins, customer lifetime value, brand positioning and how to balance scale vs efficiency.
* Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills: able to present to senior leadership, influence across functions and drive collaboration between agencies/partners and internal teams.
* Project management and organisational skills: able to prioritise multiple channels, campaigns and partners simultaneously and meet deadlines.
* Comfortable working in a hybrid model and being in the Essex office a minimum of two days a week: able to engage with colleagues in person, participate in cross‑team meetings and reinforce team culture.

Skills & Competencies

* Strategic mindset: able to envision the mid/long‑term partner/affiliate ecosystem and how it ties into business growth, while still being hands‑on with execution.
* Data‑driven decision making: you test, measure, learn and optimise—rather than simply ‘set up and monitor’.
* Agency/partner management: ability to set clear objectives, monitor performance, challenge assumptions and push for improvement.
* Affiliate/partner ecosystem knowledge: you understand the different types of affiliate publishers (content blogs, voucher/cashback, influencer, email partners, comparison sites), how they behave and which segments drive incremental value.
* Risk awareness: ability to monitor for fraud, invalid traffic, brand compliance within affiliate programmes.
* Excellent communication: you can simplify complex data, persuade senior stakeholders, brief agencies/partners and work cross‑functionally.
* Financial literacy and budget control: you oversee spend, forecast outcomes, report variances and link channel performance to commercial metrics.
* Adaptive and growth‑oriented mindset: performance marketing evolves rapidly—you're excited by change, new formats, new partnerships, and bring fresh thinking.

How You’ll Fit With Us

* You’ll champion our brand promise: offering great quality at a great price, a huge choice and simplicity of buying—ensuring your channel strategies reflect these values.
* You’re motivated by driving measurable outcomes, scaling what works and constantly improving what doesn’t.
* You thrive in a collaborative environment where agencies, affiliates, internal teams and e‑commerce operations come together to deliver the business vision.
* You balance strategic oversight (how the affiliate programme grows) with hands‑on execution (setting up campaigns, analysing results, optimising daily).

Other Requirements

No agencies please. You must be qualified to work in the UK and to attend on‑site in Essex a minimum of three days each week.
