Join our dynamic team as a Band 6 Resuscitation Officer, where youll play a critical role in ensuring excellence in resuscitation practices across our healthcare organisation.</p><p>This role offers a unique opportunity to develop your teaching, leadership, and clinical skills in a supportive and forward-thinking environment.</p><p>We are continually striving to enhance the Resuscitation Service with a focus on patient safety, detection and prevention of deterioration. This direction for the Resuscitation Service requires motivation, flexibility and initiative in this role, and requires the ability to prioritise workload, and maintain accuracy whilst meeting deadlines and deal with changing priorities.</p><p>This will be a competency-based interview, and applicants will be required to complete assessment tasks as part of this process.</p><h3>Main duties of the job</h3><p>In this exciting and challenging role, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality resuscitation training and education to multidisciplinary teams, empowering them to provide effective and timely emergency care.</p><p>As a key member of the resuscitation team, you will participate in audits, provide advice on advanced life support techniques, and assist with clinical debriefs following resuscitation events. You will also contribute to maintaining an effective resuscitation service by ensuring that equipment and protocols are up-to-date and readily accessible.</p><h3>Detailed job description and main responsibilities</h3><p><b>CLINICAL & PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES</b></p><ul><li>Where possible, respond to a variety of 2222 calls throughout the Organisation as an active member of the team providing direct clinical patient care such as but not exclusive to, the administration of medications, obtaining intravascular or intraosseous access, performing chest compressions or providing supportive ventilation in emergency situations as required.</li></ul><p><b>ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES</b></p><ul><li>Assist with the development, updating and implementation of Organisational resuscitation policies and procedures</li><li>Assist with the investigation process of Datixs in relation to resuscitation</li></ul><p><b>TEACHING & TRAINING RESPONSIBILITIES</b></p><ul><li>Maintain own resuscitation instructor statuses in accordance with the recommendations of the Resuscitation Council (UK)</li><li>Assist with the organisation of resuscitation training for all levels of mandatory training ensuring there is adequate and sufficient availability for all that must attend</li><li>Develop own resuscitation instructors statuses to facilitate the delivery of resuscitation courses provided by the resuscitation team</li><li>Assist with the delivery of resuscitation training to all staff within the Organisation at a level appropriate to their role ensuring appropriate and regulated content is delivered as required</li><li>Provide Organisational resuscitation policy and procedure references within facilitated training</li><li>Ensure training records are forwarded to the Training and Education team in a timely manner following training to ensure attendance and compliance is accurately recorded</li><li>Ensure all training equipment is well maintained and effective for use during training</li><li>Contribute to the development of the resuscitation training portfolio and assist with the delivery of such courses</li><li>Contribute towards income generation processes within the resuscitation team by providing resuscitation training for external NHS and Private sector staff at venues internally and externally to Southport & Ormskirk NHS Hospitals</li><li>Support in situ simulation practices, providing specialist resuscitation advice/guidance as required</li></ul><p><b>FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES</b></p><ul><li>Have an awareness of effective and efficient use of the department budget</li><li>Inform the Senior Resuscitation Officer regarding equipment and consumables which require ordering</li><li>Correspond with Procurement regarding the receipt of purchased goods in accordance with the Organisational Finance Framework as required</li><li>Correspond with Finance regarding payments from external agencies/candidates and accelerate any queries or complaints to the Senior Resuscitation Officer</li></ul><p><b>RESEARCH & AUDIT</b></p><ul><li>Contribute to the collection/presentation of data for research and audit purposes relevant to resuscitation</li><li>Ensure all National Cardiac Arrest Audit (NCAA) data is collected, inputted and reviewed in a timely and thorough manner</li><li>Maintain regular overview of the resuscitation compliance using the MyKitCheck (MKC) software and respond appropriately and promptly as issues arise, escalating to the Senior Resuscitation Officer as necessary</li><li>Highlight any possible research/audit developments for consideration to the Senior Resuscitation Officer/Resuscitation Operation Group</li></ul><h3>Qualifications</h3><ul><li>Registered Healthcare Professional (GMC/NMC or HCPC)</li><li>Educated to Degree Level (or working towards)</li><li>Relevant Post-Graduate Teaching Qualification (or relevant teaching experience)</li><li>Evidence of engagement with continuous professional development</li><li>Willingness to undertake relevant training for the role</li><li>Advanced Life Support Provider</li><li>Immediate Life Support Instructor</li><li>Paediatric Immediate Life Support Instructor</li><li>Advanced Life Support Instructor Potential/ Instructor Candidate/Instructor</li><li>European Advanced Paediatric Provider/ Instructor Potential/ Instructor Candidate/Instructor</li></ul><h3>Skills</h3><ul><li>Is reliable, honest and trustworthy</li><li>Evidence of excellent written and oral communication skills</li><li>Ability to organise, manage and prioritise own workload effectively ensuring deadlines are met</li><li>Ability to work as part of a successful team</li><li>IT literate</li><li>Has excellent understanding of Trust Policies/Procedures pertaining to resuscitation</li><li>Experience of service improvement and implementation</li></ul><h3>Other</h3><ul><li>Frequently required to exert light physical effort for several periods at a time (e.g moving between departments)</li><li>Physically capable of sitting or standing within a restricted position for several periods for medium timeframes frequently (e.g whilst delivering training or report writing)</li><li>Physically capable of exerting repeated moderate physical effort on a frequent basis (e.g lifting and moving of heavy training equipment)</li><li>Physically capable of exerting moderate physical effort (e.g moving and handling of patients) occasionally</li><li>Physically capable of exerting intense physical effort (e.g timely performance of chest compressions clinically and during training demonstrations) for repetitive short periods of time as required (approximately 3-4 times a week)</li><li>Physically capable of exerting intense physical effort (e.g timely attendance to a 2222 call) for repetitive short periods of time as required (approximately twice a month)</li><li>Ability to respond to unpredictable requests (e.g 2222 calls)</li><li>Able to apply occasional concentration collate and compile data reports, assisting with the review and development policies and procedures within a timely manner with frequent unpredictable interruptions (e.g telephone enquiries for advice/course bookings)</li><li>Frequent monitoring of resuscitation team email and voicemail</li><li>Occasional expectation to attend Resuscitation Operational Group Meetings on behalf of the Senior Resuscitation Officer</li><li>Occasionally deals with distressing or emotional situations during attendance of unpredictable 2222 incidents</li><li>Frequently provide support to the Senior Resuscitation Officer with indirect distressing or emotional situation reviews following reported incidents</li><li>Occasionally required to coach and mentor Trust staff during the delivery of resuscitation training being empathetic to attendees emotional wellbeing</li><li>Occasionally required to coach be empathetic to attendees emotional wellbeing when delivering resuscitation training to cardiac rehabilitation patients</li><li>Occasional requirement to calmly and effectively deal with complaints and resolve confrontational situations</li><li>Ability to provide care within an alternative healthcare environment within own professional capabilities in times of unpredictable crisis (e.g Covid-19 Pandemic)</li><li>Occasionally required to come into direct contact with bodily fluids or infectious diseases</li><li>Occasionally required to travel to unfamiliar external facilities (e.g GP/Dental Services) to provide resuscitation training</li><li>Frequently required to travel
