A Minor Works team is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to support the delivery of small to medium‑scale capital, refurbishment and upgrade projects. The role involves producing detailed electrical designs, technical documentation and supporting project delivery across multiple sites. Projects typically range from £10k to £1m, with responsibilities spanning design, coordination,pliance and stakeholder engagement.
This temporary assignment is suitable for an engineer with strong electrical building services experience and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesElectrical Design & Technical Delivery
1. Produce electrical building services designs, including LV distribution, small power, lighting, emergency lighting, fire alarms, security systems, ICT/data layouts and associated schematics.
2. Prepare technical drawings, specifications, schedules, load calculations and design documentation.
3. Ensurepliance with relevant standards, including BS 7671, IET Wiring Regulations, CIBSE guidance, and statutory requirements.
4. Support feasibility studies, surveys, technical reviews and early‑stage design assessments.
Project Coordination
5. Deliver design work across the full project lifecycle, from concept through topletion.
6. Coordinate with mechanical, architectural, structural and contractor teams.
7. Attend design meetings, technical workshops and site surveys as required.
8. Provide technical input to procurement processes, tender assessments and contractor submissions.
Quality,pliance & Safety
9. Support CDMpliance and produce or contribute to design risk assessments.
10. Review contractor RAMS, drawings, O&M information and electrical test certificates.
11. Maintain accurate documentation and ensure high‑quality designernance.
Stakeholder Engagement
12. Liaise effectively with internal stakeholders, end users, project managers and external consultants.
13. Represent the engineering function in meetings, providing expert advice and rmendations.
Essential Requirements
14. Demonstrable experience in electrical building services design (consultancy, client‑side or estates environment).
15. Ability to produce detailed design documentation, drawings, and calculations.
16. Proficiency in AutoCAD (Revit beneficial).
17. Strong understanding of BS 7671, CIBSE standards and relevant building regulations.
18. Experience managing multiple projects concurrently and working independently.
19. Excellentmunication and coordination skills.
Desirable
20. Experience working on refurbishment or live operational environments.
21. Previous exposure to minor works or projects withinplex estate settings.
22. Knowledge of delivering projects within the £10k–£1m value range.
