Overview
Primary Care 24 (PC24) is looking for an experienced and values-driven Non-Executive Director to join the Board. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the strategic leadership of a high performing, innovative social enterprise, delivering 24/7 urgent care, primary care and community health services including Out of Hours GP services and in-house GP Practices in Sefton and Liverpool - covering 1.6 million residents across Merseyside.
What will I be doing?
* Chair responsibility for the organisation's Resources Committee, focusing on financial, people and wider resource management including estate and information technology, with potential rotation to chair other committees.
* Attend Board and Committee meetings in person at Wavertree Head Office.
* Ensure PC24 operates within a robust governance framework, maintaining regulatory compliance, accountability, probity and value for money.
* Contribute to shaping the future vision and strategic direction of PC24.
* Contribute to ensuring that PC24 provides safe, caring and effective healthcare services to its patients and the wider community.
* Assist in the appointment (or removal) of the Chief Executive and other members of the Executive Team.
* Monitor the performance and conduct of the Executive Team in meeting their goals, objectives and statutory responsibilities.
* Provide visible leadership within PC24, modelling the organisations values and engaging with staff across centres.
* Promote equality of opportunity and the prevention of discrimination in the treatment of patients and staff.
* Foster and maintain relationships with local commissioners, public figures and the third sector, and contribute to workforce, community and partner stakeholder engagement.
* Provide effective governance to ensure high-quality and safe health services, responsible resource investment and accessible, responsive services for the local population.
* Work with patients and the public to help shape health services to meet their needs and ensure public money is spent fairly, efficiently, effectively and economically.
What do I need?
* Experience of working as a Non-Executive Director, Governor, Trustee or equivalent in the private, public or voluntary sector, with an understanding of interfaces between planned and unplanned health care between primary and secondary care systems.
* Experience of chairing committees or formal meetings, with ability to facilitate debate and summarise for others.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Confidence to give constructive advice.
* Competent computer skills.
