Mechanical Design Engineer Permanent Full-Time
Location – Office based in Bedfordshire

We’re looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer who is proficient in SolidWorks to lead the development of specialised machinery from initial concept through to final production. Your role will balance high-level mechanical design with practical technical documentation.
Responsibilities, but are not limited to
* Lead the design of mechanical solutions, from concept through to detailed technical drawings
* Create 3D models and 2D technical drawings of mechanical components and assemblies, focusing on sheet metal, fabrication, rotating machinery, drive systems, linear motion, automation, and guarding
* Collaborate closely with other departments, customers, and suppliers to ensure designs meet both technical and business requirements
* Perform design analysis to ensure optimal functionality, manufacturability, and cost-efficiency
* Continuously evaluate and incorporate new technologies to improve product designs
* Generate supporting documentation, including bills of materials (BOMs), design risk assessments, and equipment manuals
Experiences required
* Minimum of 5 years' experience in machinery design, preferably in special-purpose machinery or industrial equipment
* Proficiency in SolidWorks 3D CAD is essential
* Experience with AutoCAD (2D CAD) is beneficial
* A basic understanding of electrical and pneumatic control systems as they relate to mechanical design
