Position:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Clinical Pharmacist based at University Hospital Ayr & Crosshouse.
What you will do:
A re-design of the clinical pharmacy team within surgical services has provided a new opportunity for an experienced pharmacist to take up the post of Senior Clinical Pharmacist Surgical Services. The successful candidate shall lead on the delivery of clinical pharmacy services provided to surgical inpatient areas and pre-operative assessment clinics across both acute sites. The post-holder shall lead a team of clinical pharmacists and clinical pharmacy technicians providing highly specialised expertise to specialties including trauma and orthopaedics, urology, bariatric and general surgery in addition to pre-operative assessment clinics. This is a fantastic opportunity for an innovative and enthusiastic pharmacist to review clinical pharmacy service provision to identified specialties and maximise the impact of pharmacy teams. This shall involve patient prioritisation, pharmacist prescribing, development of the clinical pharmacy technician role, service re-design and discharge pathways. In addition the post-holder shall participate in the clinical pharmacy service provision to critical care units across both acute sites as part of team rota.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:
1. Master of Pharmacy Degree or Equivalent
2. Post-Registration Foundation Programme for Pharmacists
3. (or demonstrable evidence of clinical knowledge equivalent to that level)
4. Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or RPS Core Advanced Curriculum (or demonstrable evidence of clinical knowledge equivalent to that level, or currently working towards this qualification)
5. Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council
6. Practice certificate in pharmacist prescribing (or currently working towards this qualification)
7. Relevant clinical pharmacy experience at a senior level
8. Evidence of experience in service development and an ability to examine current practice and develop and implement innovative solutions for improvement
9. Experience in teaching, education and training
10. Expert level of clinical pharmacy knowledge
11. Advanced level of knowledge regarding medicines, medicines legislation and practice
12. Advanced arithmetic skills
13. Expert knowledge and understanding of standards and guidelines
14. Knowledge of IT systems in relation to electronic prescribing and administration
15. Advanced interpersonal and influencing skills
