The positionRES currently provides High Voltage Operations and Maintenance (HV O&M) Services to renewable energy assets in the UK & Ireland. Due to increased demand from our clients, we are seeking an HV Senior Authorised Person (33kV) to grow and improve this service.The SAP is a site-based role performing Operation & Maintenance duties on utility-scale solar/wind and battery storage sites and home/office working for other duties.Candidate must currently hold, or have recently held, 11 - 33kV SAP status. Experience operating and maintaining utility-scale renewable sites/equipment or DNO assets, would be desirable.You will need to be located near/travel to operational plants and have a full driving licence.This is a permanent role and will require availability for weekend and on-call duties, including overnight callouts.AccountabilitiesThe responsibilities of the HV SAP’s include:
1. Always adherence to health and safety requirements and help to maintain and improve safety standards
2. Achieve and maintain Senior Authorised Person status.
3. Carry out basic protection testing on HV related equipment. Complex protection relay testing is desirable.
4. Undertaking troubleshooting and fault-finding on RES controlled plant/equipment.
5. Carrying out inductions for sub-contractors and deliver Competent Person Training.
6. Induct and manage in-house staff and sub-contractors, ensure their safe working, and undertake quality checks on their work.
7. Keeping in close communication with the O&M office
8. Liaising with external stakeholders such as DNO and asset owner
9. Reacting to emergencies, site outages and changing circumstances
10. Occasionally working away from home for training courses or to cover RES controlled sites in other geographical areas where required.
11. Other duties commensurate with the role
12. Become fully conversant and make sure that all works are undertaken in accordance with the RES Electrical & Mechanical Safety Rules and Safety Rule Instructions, this will include but is not limited to:
13. Preparing, issuing and cancelling safety documents
14. Carrying out switching, isolation and earthing duties
15. Acting as Control Engineer
16. Preparing switching schedules
17. Managing the interface between system boundaries with site and DNO as required
18. Producing and reviewing method statements and risk assessments
19. Producing maintenance plans for HV equipment
20. Maintaining the asset register
21. Management and/or delivery of planned and unplanned maintenance activities on electrical equipment
22. Producing final reports
KnowledgeEssential:
23. HV Safe Systems of Work
24. Knowledge of the key legislation underpinning UK high voltage electrical asset operation and maintenance
25. Detailed knowledge of UK industry HV electrical safety rules
26. Detailed knowledge of HV equipment
27. HV maintenance practices including HSG230
Desirable:
28. Knowledge of solar and Wind farm assets
29. Earthing system installation and test. Protection system installation and test.
SkillsEssential:
30. Strong approach to safe working practices
31. Able to operate and maintain various types of HV plant/equipment.
32. Excellent communication skills
33. Good people skills
34. Ability to coordinate multiple activities whilst ensuring safety and quality are maintained
35. Ability to identify problems, conduct analysis and develop solutions
Desirable:
36. Able to use equipment for testing and fault finding on HV plant/equipment
ExperienceEssential:
37. SAP Experience (11- 33kV)
38. Operation and maintenance of HV Equipment
39. Experience in fault finding on HV plant and equipment.
40. Commissioning HV plant and equipment.
41. Basic HV protection testing
Desirable:
42. SAP Experience at 11 - 33kV for DNO’s and renewables
43. Complex Protection relay testing and commissioning.
QualificationsEssential:
44. Full UK driving licence
45. Previously held SAP authorisation under high voltage electrical safety rules
46. Electrical Engineering HND or equivalent industry experience
47. IOSH Managing Safely or CITB SMSTS or equivalent
Desirable:
48. Holds or previously held SAP authorisations under DNO Safety Rules
