About the Project
John Holland, in partnership with McConnell Dowell (Joint Venture), is delivering the Kidston Pumped Storage Hydro Project in Far North Queensland. This innovative project involves the world's first conversion of a disused gold mine into a pumped storage hydroelectric power facility, located 270km NW of Townsville.
The project includes converting two existing mine pits into reservoirs and constructing underground infrastructure such as a large powerhouse cavern, waterway shafts, and tunnels to transfer water between reservoirs for power generation during peak periods and water return during off-peak periods.
Responsibilities of the role include:
The Senior Completions Engineer will oversee the commissioning of the Kidston Pumped Storage Hydro Plant, ensuring completion aligns with project requirements for quality, performance, availability, and durability, in a timely and cost-effective manner.
The Senior Completions Engineer will:
* Report directly to the Contractor Integration Manager.
* Establish and maintain the Performance Testing and Commissioning Plan, Method Statements, ITPs, and ITCs, ensuring traceability of all checks.
* Coordinate with the Commissioning Manager and Construction Managers for a seamless transition from construction to commissioning.
* Prepare commissioning reports.
* Ensure pre-commissioning checks are completed using the CCMS system before system commissioning.
* Manage the Completions and Commissioning software (Assethive) and liaise with the CCMS vendor for smooth operation.
* Assist commissioning engineers with processing test records and coordinating activities.
* Support project planners with project controls and progress tracking tools.
To succeed in this role, you must have:
* An engineering degree or relevant qualifications.
* At least 10 years of commissioning experience.
* Extensive expertise in planning commissioning, proving, and demonstrating water treatment facilities, pump stations, and pipelines.
* Proven success in commissioning, demonstration, operator training, and project handovers.
* Ability to prepare comprehensive commissioning reports and supporting documents.
* Experience in developing operating procedures, maintenance schedules, and manuals.
