Are you an experienced Technical Manager ready to lead on exciting residential developments? One of the UK’s leading housebuilders is expanding their Technical team following a series of new land acquisitions – and they’re looking for an established Technical Manager to help deliver high-quality homes ranging from 50 to 300 units.
The Role
As Technical Manager, you will be responsible for managing all technical aspects of multiple developments, from land acquisition through planning, design, and delivery. You’ll work across departments and with external consultants to ensure the smooth coordination of technical design, compliance, and buildability.
Key responsibilities include:
* Lead technical input on planning applications and discharge of conditions
* Manage external consultants (architects, engineers & Utilities) from appointment through design delivery.
* Oversee production and review of working drawing packages for build, sales, and marketing purposes.
* Ensure all designs are value-engineered, cost-effective, and buildable.
* Coordinate legal agreements (S38, S104, S278) and ensure timely technical approvals from NHBC, Building Control, and statutory authorities.
* Ensure all developments comply with current Building Regulations, CDM, environmental, and sustainability standards.
* Work closely with Land, Commercial, Construction, and Sales teams to provide technical support at every project stage.
* Maintain design programmes, fee trackers, and risk registers
* Mentor and support Technical Coordinators, contributing to team development and succession planning.

What You’ll Need
* Proven experience in a Technical Manager or Senior Technical Coordinator role
* Strong background in traditional build residential housing
* Comprehensive knowledge of Building Regulations, planning policy, and infrastructure coordination
* Proficiency with technical drawings, AutoCAD, and design approvals
* Excellent coordination, communication, and leadership skills
* Based within commutable distance to St Albans
* Full UK driving license
