About the job Salary: £36,363 - £39,152 a year pro rata Hours per week: 37 Contract type: Fixed Term for 9 months This position is available as a secondment opportunity for 9 months. Luton Borough Council is seeking a highly skilled Senior Legal Officer – Property (Right to Buy) to join our Legal Services team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering a proactive, high-quality in-house legal service that supports residents in exercising their Right to Buy. About the Role You will: Proactively manage and progress a caseload of Right to Buy matters with minimal supervision Ensure compliance with all relevant legislative and procedural requirements, including Part V of the Housing Act 1985 Deliver Right to Buy and residential conveyancing transactions in a timely, efficient and cost-effective manner Provide administrative and legal support to the Property, Planning and Contracts Team (and where required, other Legal Services teams) Support the day-to-day operations and service delivery of Legal Services Conduct legal research to maintain and develop expertise across relevant practice areas Please note this role does not attract sponsorship. About you We are looking for a candidate with: Significant and recent in-depth experience (minimum 4 years) handling Right to Buy transactions Thorough knowledge of English land law and conveyancing procedures A sound understanding of the Right to Buy scheme and Part V of the Housing Act 1985 Demonstrable experience of working within a legal environment The ability to manage competing deadlines and time-pressured projects Strong organisational skills and a high level of attention to detail The ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook A commitment to equality, with the confidence to identify and appropriately address discrimination in service delivery or the workplace Why Join Us?
