There has never been a more exciting time to join the nuclear sector. The Nuclear Graduates programme provides opportunities to contribute to challenges across energy generation, waste management, transport, and decommissioning. The programme is run by the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority in partnership with leading businesses and organisations, delivering two years of experience with three secondments across sponsor organisations.
During the two-year programme you will be employed by Energus and supported by a sponsoring organisation. At the end of the programme, you will be supported in securing a role with your sponsoring organisation or within the wider nuclear sector.
Responsibilities
* Support the regulation of nuclear sites – from design and construction, through operation and decommissioning.
* Monitor the management and disposal of radioactive waste.
* Support the processing of nuclear waste or work with radioactive materials.
* Contribute to the collation of information and advice to support decision making.
* Provide technical support to plant operations.
Qualifications and requirements
* A minimum of a 2:2 in a relevant degree subject.
* Right to work for the duration of the 2-year programme; offers conditional on satisfactory right to work checks.
* Successful completion of security clearance checks.
* Willing and able to travel and relocate. Energus head office is based in Workington, Cumbria; role locations vary by sponsor location.
Start date: September 2026
Recruitment stages
* Online application form – please complete all required sections.
* Psychometric assessment – Neurosight, sent via email.
* Online interview – 20-30 minute video interview with sponsoring organisation.
* Assessment centre – in-person activities and information about the nuclear industry and the programme.
* Offer – outcomes issued within two weeks after assessment centres; start the programme in September 2026.
* Onboarding – welcome sessions and security paperwork before starting.
Face-to-face assessment centres will take place in early 2026. If invited and unable to attend, you may be unable to complete the selection process. Regularly check emails for correspondence.
