Maths Tutor
The Growth Company’s (GC) Education and Skills team is recruiting for a Maths Tutor based at our Wigan Training Centre.
This role offers the chance to make a real impact by supporting learners to develop essential skills and achieve their goals, through the planning, delivery, and assessment of engaging Functional Skills and GCSE lessons that maximise learner progress and achievement.
This role requires the following qualifications:
1. Teaching qualification (Level 5+).
2. Maths L2 - (GCSE or Functional Skills).
Key Responsibilities:
3. Plan and deliver dynamic, inclusive lessons that inspire learner engagement and challenge.
4. Conduct initial and ongoing assessments to tailor learning pathways.
5. Personalise teaching using IA outcomes and holistic learner data.
6. Promote high expectations to build confidence and aspirations.
7. Manage classroom behaviour to foster a safe and supportive learning environment.
8. Track progress and identify learners needing intervention for rapid improvement.
9. Deliver impactful teaching across centres, groups, and individual learners.
About You:
10. Proven recent experience in engaging and successfully teaching hard‑to‑reach learners.
11. Genuine commitment to improving the prospects of young people and adult learners.
12. Ability to motivate disengaged learners and plan engaging, inclusive lessons.
13. High professional standards with a reflective approach to practice.
14. Strong ability to manage time, workload, and work to tight deadlines.
15. Flexible and adaptable, with a willingness to travel and work across multiple sites to meet business needs.
Skills Required:
16. Relevant subject-specific and teaching qualifications appropriate to the role.
17. Evidence of ongoing CPD (Continuing Professional Development).
18. Proven experience teaching Functional Skills and GCSE in challenging environments.
19. Skilled in planning, teaching, and assessing for learner progress.
20. Knowledge of a range of effective approaches to teaching and learning.
21. Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders.
