Overview
A Geotechnical Laboratory Technician position at Ian Farmer Associates (1998) Ltd, part of RSK Group Ltd, in an accredited UKAS geotechnical soil and materials laboratory.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform a variety of physical tests on soil, rock and aggregate samples to the highest level of safety and quality standards.
* Develop an understanding of the test methods and why samples are tested.
* Assist in the calibration and maintenance of all technical equipment.
* Maintain a clean and orderly laboratory environment.
* Ensure the quality of work produced is of high standards and tested in a timely manner.
* Manage sample receipt, storage and disposal.
* Perform frequent manual handling, moving heavy items frequently.
Required Experience
* 5+ GCSEs including English, Maths and Science.
* Previous experience in a geotechnical or materials testing lab.
* Good numeracy and literacy: able to write clearly and accurately.
* A good eye for detail, diligent in following procedures.
* Good IT skills, especially proficiency with MS Excel.

* Strong communication skills.
* Good level of literacy and numeracy.
Salary and Benefits
* Salary – £26,228 – £29,000, depending on experience.
