This local authority in Essex has a newly created role for a Project Manager to join their team to lead the delivery of a number of critical projects, supporting the councils' transformation agenda. This is NOT an IT Project Manager role, they are looking for a wider skill set to transform delivery of services.
Your new role
The successful candidates will be working with multidisciplinary teams across a range of projects to transform the way we deliver their services to residents and visitors. As a highly experienced project manager, you have proven expertise in delivering solutions to a variety of customers; leadingplex, high-profile, time-dependent projects to successful delivery. You have strong stakeholder management skills, building and maintaining trust and confidence from senior management and team members.
As an excellentmunicator, you can demonstrate control of the project delivery through managing project tolerances, utilising project standards and tools to ensure clearernance. A natural leader, you will take a senior lead on major projects and drive high performance from your project team, successfully managing risk and issues, and maintaining control of the project. The ability to manage resources in a matrix environment, coordinate and motivate others will be essential to the success of this role.Key responsibilities include
1. Manage and successfully deliver projects from start up through to closure, in accordance with agreed standards, providing fit for purpose solutions within time, quality and budget constraints
2. Successfully managing project stakeholders, developing strong relations with the key stakeholders and project board members
3. Demonstrate strong control of the project delivery, agreeing and managing project tolerances, utilising project standards and tools to ensure clearernance
4. Manage projects for a variety of service areas and often a range of projects concurrently
5. Co-ordinate project resources, including internal and 3rd party in the successful delivery of projects
6. Identify and manage any project risks, providing appropriate controls and escalation
7. Deliver project documentation andmunications to a high standard
8. Develop and own detailed project plans to monitor and track progress
9. Lead all stages of the project, development plans (overall project plan, test plan, implementation plan)
10. Monitor project progress, taking corrective action where necessary to keep them in plan
11. Organise and run routine project meetings
12. Provide regular project reporting and updates, as required
13. Manage project budgets
14. Work with project managers, technical leaders and key stakeholders to ensure dependencies on other projects are identified and managed
15. Manage smooth transition of projects into operational business as usual, including handover of documentation
16. Ensure projects reflect corporate strategic aims and priorities, deliver benefits and identify potential impacts on the council
17. Provide quality assurance, project health checks and monitor performance of projects, providing reports to senior management/members as required
What you'll need to succeed
You must be an experienced Project Manager in Local Authorities, with experience of leading multi-multidisciplinary teams across a range of services.
THIS IS NOT AN IT PROJECT MANAGER ROLE
You must have excellent Project/Programme management skills, and ideally a certificate/qualification in Project Management.
What you'll get in return
The role is paying up to £500 a day in-scope of IR3 and will require some presence on site with the client (possibly weekly) and it will last from 6 to 12 months.
