Responsible To: The Headteacher – Newingate School

We are seeking a PE teacher to join our team, who have the willingness and ability to contribute to quickly establishing the school as a local centre of excellence for learning, teaching and supporting students with a diagnosis of Autism gaining the best possible outcomes.

We are looking for colleagues who are a great all-rounder: enthusiastic, innovative, committed, highly motivated and a positive role model. Those with prior experience or training in the Primary or SEND sectors will be well prepared for teaching in our school, but we also aspire to GCSE (or equivalent) outcomes for our students so those with secondary training are just as welcome and encouraged to apply.

We are committed to offering a full and broad curriculum across the school that enables excellent outcomes for our students. If you have the experience and drive to lead on a specific curriculum area or aspect of provision, we will offer the opportunity and support to do so. The willingness to teach subjects beyond that in which you are primarily trained to teach is essential.

Job Summary

To take responsibility for the planning, implementation, and assessment of at least 1 additional core subject as part of a broad and balanced curriculum for an initial cohort of students with Special Educational Needs, a diagnosis of Autism and associated SEMH difficulties. To ensure that all students, irrespective of their varying learning abilities, make progress and achieve the best possible outcomes.

Successful candidates will be:

1. A creative, knowledgeable, and reflective practitioner who has high expectations of learning and teaching for themselves and their team
2. Proficient in appropriate models of teaching and support for autistic children
3. Able to build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff across the school
4. Able to design a high-quality curriculum, giving students the confidence to succeed
5. Able to engage and inspire students through engaging lessons and varied learning opportunities to reduce gaps in learning
6. Able to support our students to reach their full personal and academic potential

We offer:

7. A variety of development and professional learning opportunities, including our own in-house training programmes and fully funded leadership CPD
8. Support from experienced staff and Senior Leaders to continually refine and develop your teaching career
9. A closely knit and collaborative staff team dedicated to ensuring very positive outcomes for our students.
10. Professional ‘freedom’ to create and deliver the most appropriate curriculum for our students
11. Access to a wider network of professional colleagues to support, celebrate and develop innovative pedagogy
12. A positive working environment that supports personal and professional growth and wellbeing.

Newingate School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects staff to share this commitment. All appointments are subject to Enhanced Disclosure, via the DBS and are subject to qualification, reference, and health checks. CVs are not accepted in isolation
