Planning Manager – Dornan
Join Dornan as a Planning Manager on our hyperscale data centre project in Newport, Wales.
Your day to day will include:
* Managing & leading a team of Planners (Grad, Jnr, Intermediate, Senior).
* Ensuring the team is structured and roles & responsibilities are clearly defined.
* Ensuring team and individual deadlines are met.
* Project Planning using Primavera P6 or ASTA PowerProject.
* Using software like Excel, Power BI & Bluebeam to produce day‑to‑day deliverables.
* Developing Pre‑Construction, Construction and Commissioning programmes as part of the Dornan project team.
* Ensuring site walks are carried out on a weekly basis to familiarize the planner with the projects progress.
* Scheduled and ad‑hoc discussions with all/any project team members around day‑to‑day site issues/events.
* Managing the planning process in terms of developing and managing the project lifecycle in terms of planning & progress, driving the Dornan team to engage.
* Attending formal and informal project meetings and reviews with all stakeholders, including internal to Dornan, clients, suppliers, service providers and subcontractors.
* Maintaining good relations and facilitating exchange of information between client and Dornan, as well as internally to assure alignment of strategic objectives.
* Being an active member of the cross‑functional project team, liaising with Commercial Engineering, Procurement, Construction, QA, Turnover, and other functions; identifying potential areas of concern and resolving them before they become issues.
What we are looking for:
* Advanced user of Primavera P6 or Asta.
* Solid mechanical and electrical construction experience, ideally in data centre projects.
* Knowledge and experience of delay analysis techniques.
* Knowledge of BIM & engineering processes particularly at the pre‑construction stage.
* Knowledge & understanding of QA handover process and commissioning (Cx) at project turnover stage.
