Job Description
The Role and Job Purpose: My client is looking to expand and grow their Civil Engineering department in the Bedford office.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Work on various residential and non-residential projects across the UK, ranging from small private developments to large master planning schemes.
2. Communicate and liaise with clients, third-party consultants, council officers, and attend meetings as required.
3. Coordinate with the wider engineering team.
4. Assist with team management or manage the team directly.
5. Manage own workload and deadlines, running individual projects.
6. Utilize CAD software (Microstation preferred).
7. Use drainage and 3D design software such as Flow and PDS to model drainage networks and produce road designs and ground models.
8. Conduct due diligence and feasibility studies of potential sites.
9. Prepare submission packs for planning (Outline, Detail, Full).
10. Complete technical design submissions (S38/S278/S104) through to approval.
11. Prepare groundworks packages for tender or construction.
12. Design private civil engineering works on plots (desirable).
13. Understand planning processes and related documents such as Flood Risk Assessments.
Associate Roles Requirements:
1. Understand fees, invoicing, and project budgets.
2. Manage multiple projects responsibly.
3. Proven track record in managing teams and delivering projects.
Person Specification - Knowledge & Skills:
* Relevant degree (desirable).
* Proficient in UK Drainage/Flood Risk standards.
* Knowledge of Client & Local Authority standards.
* Proficiency with Microdrainage/Flow, Microstation/AutoCAD, Causeway PDS, and Microsoft Office suite.
Experience Profile:
* Experience in preparing technical submissions (S38/S278/S104).
* Experience in engineering drawings supporting planning submissions (desirable).
* Experience with private plot work design and earthworks (desirable).
* Strong communication skills, confident in client and third-party interactions.
Behavioural Competencies:
* Proactive and self-motivated.

* Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
