Supplier Development Engineer Opportunity: Drive Quality and Performance!
* Job Title: Supplier Development Engineer
* Location: Peterlee
* Rate: £50.00 per hour
* Duration: 12 months (Likely to extend)
* Start Date: 5th January 2026 (Estimated)
* Working Hours: 08:00-16:00 core, site-based.
Key Responsibilities Include:
* Confirming parts meet engineering print requirements and validating supplier capacity to ship parts on time.
* Conducting quality control audits to ensure compliance with standards and policies.
* Ensuring the quality of supplies through tests and assessments.
* Developing supplier inspection, testing, and evaluation mechanisms.
* Guiding suppliers to reduce defect rates and generating reports on supplier quality.
* Supporting suppliers in performance improvement through process enhancements and quality assurance plans.
* Researching potential vendors and assessing their manufacturing environment, practices, and procedures.
Essential Skills & Experience
The hiring manager is looking for someone with a strong 'can-do' approach and exceptional attention to detail.
Top 3 Must-Have Skills:
* Robust Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) skill.
* Robust Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) skill.
* Build in quality skills (e.g., ability to determine root cause and implement action).
Required Experience:
* A minimum of 10+ years’ experience is preferred.
* Candidates with slightly less shop floor experience (around 5 years) will be considered if they also hold a degree.
* Experience in a Manufacturing Engineer background is transferable.
* You must be able to lead structured problem-solving efforts and champion quality as a strategic value.
