Based in Wolverhampton, the Local Investments Analyst is a key member of the Local Investments team, supporting the delivery of LGPS Central's local investment fund(s) and services in line with the government's "Fit for the Future" agenda.
This role provides analytical, operational, and research support across the sourcing, due diligence, and monitoring of local investment opportunities - including housing, infrastructure, clean energy, venture capital, SME finance and natural capital - with a focus on delivering economic, social, and environmental benefits for the regions served by our Partner Funds.
The role involves working collaboratively with the Senior Portfolio Manager - Local Investments, internal investment teams, Partner Funds, and external stakeholders, to deliver high-quality analysis and insight that supports informed investment decisions and effective reporting.
Note some examples of local investment could include:
* Multi-asset across private markets. For example, but not limited to, housing, infrastructure and clean energy, venture capital and SME finance, and natural capital.
* Having some benefit to the area the region of the Administering Authorities of LGPS Central.
What you'll be doing:
As a Local Investments Analyst, here is a flavour of what you'll get involved in:
* Support the sourcing, evaluation, and recommendation of local investment opportunities across multiple asset classes.
* Assist in due diligence and financial analysis on target investments, including data gathering, modelling, and report preparation.
* Contribute to the development and management of LGPS Central's local investment fund(s), ensuring alignment with Partner Fund requirements and government objectives.
* Monitor and track the performance of local investments and portfolios, producing timely and accurate reports for senior management and Partner Funds.
* Support the assessment of local economic, social, and environmental impact, helping to evidence the value created by local investments.
* Contribute to the integration of responsible investment principles and local impact considerations within the investment process.
* Collaborate with internal teams (Private Markets, Client & Advisory, Risk & Compliance, Operations) to ensure data accuracy, operational efficiency, and adherence to governance frameworks.
* Maintain accurate records, models, and databases to support reporting, forecasting, and performance analysis.
* Assist in preparing materials for the Investment Committee and Private Markets Investment Committee.
* Build productive working relationships with external managers, advisors, and local and combined authorities.
* Contribute to a high-performing, research-driven, and collaborative team culture.

LGPS Central (LGPSC) Ltd is the FCA regulated asset manager for eight local authority pension funds across the Midlands. LGPSC is jointly owned on an equal shares basis by those Partner Fund, and it is responsible for managing £45bn+ of their assets. Requirements
* Experience or strong interest in private markets or local/regional investment, preferably gained within an asset manager, pension fund, or financial institution.
* Understanding of investment processes across asset classes such as infrastructure, property, venture capital, or impact investing.
* Strong financial and analytical skills, including data modelling, valuation, and portfolio analysis.
* Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams.
* Confident communicator, able to present complex information clearly in both written and verbal formats.
* Awareness of ESG and Responsible Investment considerations, particularly relating to local or impact-focused investments.
* Collaborative and proactive approach, with a commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.
* High degree of integrity, professionalism, and curiosity.
Qualifications
* Degree level or equivalent
* CFA or equivalent qualification/ relevant investment experience.
