About The Role
We’re looking for a confident, commercially minded individual ready to step into a Junior Account Manager position. You might have experience supporting a commercial or account management team, or perhaps you're an Account Executive with exposure to managing smaller accounts. Either way, you're ready to take greater ownership and develop into a key customer-facing member of the team.
In this role, you’ll work closely with the Commercial Director and the wider commercial team to support the management of major national accounts, while also taking direct ownership of smaller customer accounts. You'll contribute to customer relationship management, supplier negotiations, commercial planning, and sales reporting — helping drive performance while developing your commercial career within the food industry.
What You’ll Be Doing
Major Account Support (Partnering with Senior Commercial Team):
* Act as the right-hand support to the Senior Commercial Team on key national accounts.
* Assist with commercial planning, presentations, contact reports, and internal communications.
* Coordinate with customers and suppliers to gather critical information.
* Manage commercial documentation such as pricing updates and new line forms.
* Keep cross-functional teams (supply chain, finance, NPD) informed on pricing, availability, and timelines.
* Monitor account performance, flag risks, and support proactive solutions.
Ownership of Secondary Accounts:
* Take ownership of smaller secondary customer accounts, with support from the Senior Commercial Team.
* Build positive customer relationships, ensuring their needs are understood and acted upon.
* Coordinate day-to-day activities, maintain regular contact, and respond quickly to issues.
* Support sales planning and proactively identify ways to drive customer performance.
* Support supplier relationship management, including NPD, negotiation of supplier pricing, and commercials.
* Identify gaps or opportunities for new product listings or enhancements based on customer feedback and insights.
* Work closely with internal teams (NPD, finance, supply chain) to align on feasibility, pricing, and timelines.
* Help develop strategic plans for sales opportunities, monitoring key trends.
* Maintain and monitor your channel P&L, tracking key metrics, updating internal trackers, and flagging variances or risks—seeking final sign-off from the Commercial Director.
* Prepare sales performance reports, customer feedback summaries, and market insight documents for internal use.
What You’ll Bring
This role is ideal for someone with hands-on experience in a commercial or account support role, ready to progress into a junior account management position. You should have a solid understanding of commercial functions, with the confidence to manage smaller accounts and support larger ones. Your mindset is equally important—curious, proactive, and eager to learn.
Core Strengths
* Numerical confidence – comfortable working with data and spreadsheets, maintaining accurate trackers, and spotting discrepancies.
* Strong communicator – able to explain clearly, ask relevant questions, and build rapport with customers and suppliers.
* Organised and dependable – capable of keeping things on track, paying attention to details, and helping your team stay aligned.
* Curious and proactive – interested in understanding how things work, eager to learn, and willing to take ownership.
* Emotionally intelligent – able to read the room, adapt tone, and foster strong working relationships.
Experience And Interest
* Previous experience in a commercial, sales support, or junior account management role, supporting senior team members or managing small accounts.
* Confidence handling commercial admin tasks such as pricing updates, product info, presentations, and internal coordination.
* Interest in the food industry and enjoyment of a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
* Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and business systems.
* Experience in FMCG, foodservice, wholesale, or supply chain environments is a plus.
* A relevant degree (e.g., Business, Marketing, Economics) is helpful but not essential if you have relevant workplace experience.
What Will Help You Thrive
* Willingness to take on more responsibility and grow your accounts while learning from others.
* Receptive to feedback, open-minded, and always seeking improvement.
* Practical, reliable, and trusted to complete tasks.
* Excited about building long-term customer relationships and developing your career in account management.
