Overview
The PwC Actuarial practice comprises over 300 partners and staff with offices in London, Edinburgh, Manchester, Bristol and Mumbai. Our consultants focus on non-life, life, banking and non-insurance, led by a fifteen-strong partner team. We play a leading role in the actuarial community in PwC worldwide.
What You’ll Do
* You’ll provide advice covering solvency, economic capital, risk management, mergers and acquisitions, company restructuring and risk control, financial modelling, business planning, new legislation, and the efficiency and reliability of reporting processes.
* As a Manager, you’ll work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve complex business issues from strategy to execution. You’ll manage and deliver a wide range of concurrent actuarial and multidisciplinary assignments where you’ll interact with clients, often as the main point of contact on assignments. You’ll also have the opportunity to work in multidisciplinary teams or with people from our network firms overseas.
* You’ll take an active role in supporting the strategic management and running of the practice, e.g. developing one of our core product areas in risk and capital, such as risk challenge or ESG, or developing and presenting training programs for graduates and staff.
* You’ll be involved in the development of more junior staff through on-the-job coaching, or acting as a career coach, mentor or study mentor.
What You’ll Need
* We are seeking a Manager to support a successful and expanding risk & capital proposition. You should be able to work well as part of a team, be responsible, agile, clear-thinking and self-motivated.
* A good understanding of a broad range of commonly used capital modelling, risk management techniques and commercial awareness of the market issues. Ability to communicate complex, technical issues to senior management clearly. Experience across our wider offering (e.g. Catastrophe Risk; Reserving & Pricing; Deals; IFRS17; Audit) is advantageous. Interest in new areas (e.g. Cyber, Climate, ESG) is desirable.
* Experience in risk and capital modelling (model development and implementation, and model validation) and a strong understanding of insurance risks and their dependencies. Experience with Solvency II internal models, risk management, capital modelling software (e.g. Igloo, ReMetrica, Tyche), and managing regulatory relationships would be advantageous.
